WDYT of Juliana? (ju-lee-awn-ah) Would Julia suit as a nickname?

I like it. I think Julia could work as a nick name, but since Julia is a name in its own right, I wouldn't use it as a nick name, personally.

Julia also fits with a Dutch background, it's a very common name over here :)

Julia is just it's own name to me. Of course it could be a nickname for Juliana, but I think most people would really assume that Julia was her full name, until they were told different. It wouldn't be obvious that it was a nickname.

I have always liked Juliana, but I would use Jules as a nickname, or Jewel.

LOVE it! Would probably be my second choice for a girl but the SO doesn't approve :(

My little sister is a Juliana (as opposed to a Julianna, awn instead of ann as you pointed out). We call her any number of things - Juju, Juli, Jules, Jewel. It's a really pretty and easy to pronounce name, so I don't think she necessarily -needs- a nickname. Probably the most difficulty you'll have is getting people to use "awn" instead of "ann", though in my experience most people get it after they see the name spelled with one n.

I agree with the above posts. I love that name...Julia is me =). But I'd use Jules or some such for a nn for Juliana.

I think Juliana and Julia are both lovely, but I'd pick one of the two as her full name.

I like it what I don't care for is "Julie" and I know an adorable Julianna that is constantly called "Julie" at school as a nickname- no one at home calls her that- just everyone at school

I love Juli- names, especially Juliana (with the awn pronounciation) and Julia. I think Julia is a great name on its own.

Juliana is lovely. And it has that perfect balance of familiar but not bland. I don't really like Julia as a nickname... Julia is its own name, it seems weird to use as a nn. Also, Juliana is just much prettier in its full form.
