opinions?

My fiance and I are TTC, possibly already have a bun in the oven.. just waiting a while longer to test, to make sureXD We have already decided on names. We plan on having 5 children. Yes, crazy, I know, but we love kids and both want a big family. Anyhow, I was wondering what you guys thought of the following names. Its never a bad thing to hear others opinions:-)

Girls-
Ariel Elizabeth
Reily Ann
Dixie Lyn(my middle name)

Boys-
James Levi
Michael LeRoy( my fiances middle name)

Last name- Rose. BTW, my 3yr old son's name is- Issak Samual Thomas(previous marriage). Evenutally his name will be Issak Samual Thomas Rose. I think all of these names sound great together(siblings), and are unique, but not outlandish like some.

thanks in advance and congrates to all the expecting momma's in here! :-)

To me, Reily is a boys name, although I can see how it could work as a girls name. I assume you'd pronounce it R[eye]-Lee?!

I'm not too fond of Dixie, mainly because it could cause the child some grief in the form of teasing...

Love Ariel. Love the boys name too, although they seem a little 'plain' in comparison to your boys names.

Love Issak Samual although not really a fan of the kre8iv spelling...

But as a combination I think they work :)

Oh that's kinda cool then - so kre8iv spelling was in back then as well! :P

in some cses, it's just a different translation of the same name. my grampa's name back in austria was Gottfried (friedl for short) when he came to america he changed it to Godfrey and went as Jeff for short (I guess Geoffrey is another translation of Godfrey). so Isaak may just be another country's form of Isaac.

Yes, like somewhere up north. Norway or something.

Wow, Rose is a cool last name!

I like your names in the order you've listed them - as in, Ariel Elizabeth is the one I like most - I think it's quite nice...Reily Ann is pretty nice too, although i'd spell it Reilly, and Dixie Lyn, I really really don't like. Same with the boys names - James Levi is lovely, Michael LeRoy is meh... But it's interesting that the way you happened to list them is the order that I like them =)

what is crazy about 5 kids? I am one of 5 and I don't think it'sbig at all. but that's probably becasue my mom is one of 8. a number I myself am going to aim for.

Actually I really like some of these names but would put them in different combos--like Ariel Dixie, or James Leroy. Just because those are my faves and they go well together, I think. But if you want to keep them in the order you have them, then I do like Ariel Elizabeth and Michael LeRoy and Dixie Lyn. ^^;

Ariel Elizabeth is what my ex and his new GF are naming their baby

[identity profile] trissyd.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I like Ariel Elizabeth & James Levi :)

[identity profile] lavandersparkle.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ariel Elizabeth - I love Elizabeth but not Ariel
Reily Ann - Don't like
Dixie Lyn - All I think of is the Dixie Chicks
James Levi - Cute, I like
Michael LeRoy - Don't like

I don't like but not hate the combo Issak Samuel.

Ariel Elizabeth might work. Rose is a really pretty last name anyway so that would make a nice combination. Just wondering, would you consider spelling it "Arielle"? Because I knew 2 Ariels in my life, and both of them changed it to Arielle at some point because "it looked nicer and was prettier and more unique" according to them.

[identity profile] anapology.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That would suggest the pronunciation 'Ari-elle' rather than Air-riel.
I think Ariel is perfect.

[identity profile] satunian.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
To tell you the truth, neither Ariel I knew ever called themselves "Air-iel", not did anyone else ever call them that. IMO either one is "Ari-elle", which I think sounds better that "Air-riel" anyway. If that's what you want, why not just spell it "aerial"?

Your boy names are great. The only girl name I like is Ariel. Dixie Rose just sounds like a southern stripper, or a bar.

[identity profile] kati-d.livejournal.com 2006-06-17 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I love your girls names but prefer reily spelled Releigh and I dont care for Dixie that much as I dont se eit working as a profession adult name. I agree that your boys names seem plan compared to the girls but that happens frequently as boys names never seem to go out of style.

Oh and My fiance and I want 5 kids as well :) big families are awesome!

Girls-
Ariel Elizabeth - LOVE IT. I looove Ariel, but you should spell it Arielle. Ariel is masculine.
Reily Ann - really don't like it. Way too trendy, but if you really want to use it, go with Riley. Reily is a tryndee misspelling.
Dixie Lyn - way too country. Dixie? I think Dixie is an okay nn... for what I'm not sure... Meredith maybe?

Boys-
James Levi - love James!! Not a fan of Levi, tho
Michael LeRoy - I like that you're using your fiances mn, I'm not a huge fan of Michael, but it's def not bad compared to most names out there :)

The little mermaid was certainly female O_O

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
...which is why people think Ariel is the feminine version, which it isn't.

ARIELLE
Gender: Feminine

Usage: English

Pronounced: er-ee-EL, ar-ee-EL [key]

Feminine form of ARIEL

[identity profile] oakaurora.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Ariel Elizabeth- Ariel is a bit floofy for my tastes, but it's fine name and flows well with Elizabeth.
Reily Ann- Reily is a surname, and sounds ridiculous when given as a personal name. Ann is nice, but it's a bit filler-ish in the middle. Ann Rebecca, maybe? (Yes, I can hear you laughing over there :)).
Dixie Lyn- I do like the idea of giving the child your middle name, but please do not name a child Dixie. It's trashy. With a name like that, you might as well save yourself the trouble and drop her off at the strip club on your way home from the hospital. It's horrible. Save it for the cat under the trailer.

[identity profile] anapology.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Lol i love how you've planned to have 3 girls & 2 boys already!

Girls-
Ariel Elizabeth- Adore, except when i say it out loud the 'l's get in tyhe way, so maybe i dont like it as much anymore...
Reily Ann- Reily Elizabeth sounds better to me... i don't like Ann.
Dixie Lyn(my middle name)- ick sorry i'm hating this name completely. Dixie?

Boys-
James Levi- Love
Michael LeRoy( my fiances middle name)
- don't like this especially.

[identity profile] x-lostinyou.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations in advance! I don't think you're crazy at all =) We're planning on 4 at the very least. (Ages from now, but regardless.)

Anyways, good luck, and I really love the girls names. =)

[identity profile] heathity.livejournal.com 2006-06-19 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
i want five kids too!! (maybe more!!) so don't worry, you are not crazy.

Girls-
Ariel Elizabeth: I love Elizabeth but Ariel will always, until the end of time make 90% of the world's population think of the Little Mermaid.
Reily Ann: I like it, but prefer Riley
Dixie Lyn(my middle name): Stop and think. A lot of people are REALLY touchy about this name. In my high school there was a girl named Dixie and a lot of African American classmates took offense.

Boys-
James Levi: LOVE. James is my husband name and my fave name. A friend just had a baby and named him Levi James!
Michael LeRoy( my fiances middle name): It's OK, not really a fan of Leroy. It makes me think of bad, bad Leroy Brown, the baddest man in the whole damn town.
