name that dog!
Jul. 25th, 2009 11:36 pmour pets names:
virginia (border collie mix)
cats: nigel and grace (and maggie... r.i.p.)
we are animal lovers, obviously. and the guy just called from work (he is a vet at an emergency clinic) with a stray he has fallen head over heels for...
obviously we like people-ish names (although grace is the only one who didnt come with her name, actually)
this isnt her, but she looks similar...

seeing it's a hunting kind of dog, maybe one of these:
Atalanta... was an athletic young maiden huntress who refused to marry any man who couldn't beat her in a foot race. In the end, she was defeated by a Greek warrior who used a ruse by dropping 3 golden apples he had obtained from the goddess Aphrodite. The huntress paused to pick them up, he finished ahead of her, and she was his.
Cyrah... pron. SEER-ah, SYE-rah. Persian origin, its meaning is "throne; sun". Cyrah and variants are feminine forms of Cyrus. It means "lady", as a variant of Kyria (Greek). Greek mythology: Cyrene was a maiden-huntress loved by Apollo.
And there's always Diana. She does look kind of royal. :]
