We're having a boy! i'm having a hard time finding a name that i love. My maiden name was Williams so i like the idea of naming our baby named William. i'm just concerned that it's too common. i also like Xander, but i'm afraid that it sounds too weird with my last name (pronounced like sand-shaper). Please feel free to suggest names inspired by my list. Help!

VOTE on my Name List

PS. i'll worry more about middle names once i have a first name picked out.

These days I think Xander is more popular than William. I love William. It's timeless and the fact that Williams was your maiden name makes it even more wonderful for you to use.

I really doubt Xander is more popular than William, given the other possible nicknames to Alexander.

Xander is a very popular trendy name right now. I see it EVERYWHERE yet I can't remember the last time I saw a William.

William is one of those names that popularity doesn't matter with. Something like Aidan...it matters. William is classic though. I'd go with William.

Is the last name pronounced Sands-chap-er or Sand-shaper?

I would never use Xander as a name but I would possibly use it as a nickname for Alexander.

William - Good name.
Emmett - Do not like at al.
Xander - Don't like at all.
Wyatt - Like a lot.

If you're concerned about William being too common I can offer a few different ideas. You can always use William or even Williams as a middle name.

Aaron, Addison, Alec, Braxton, Brett, Bryant, Christopher, Connor, Corran, Dane, Darren, Deacon, Declan, Dominic, Dorian, Ezra, Elijah, Ethan, Evan, Everett, Gavin, Graham, Grant, Ian, Jason, Jensen, Joel, Keiran, Lane, Lennon, Levi, Mason, Maxwell, Morgan, Nathan, Nero, Nicholas, Nikolai, Owen, Quinn, Rory, Ryan, Sawyer, Scott, Seth, Shane, Shaun, Travis, Trent, Tucker, Tyler, Tyson, Vance, Warren, Zachary.

You could always name him William and call him Liam. I am really starting to love that name.
