It's Russian, and uses the syllable in the formal name (the SA from Aleksandr) plus one of the common diminutive endings (-SHA).

Dasha from Daria, Grisha from Grigori, Masha from Maria, all follow the same pattern (although there are many ways of forming nicknames for Russian names.)
