Which do you prefer and why?

I've always favoured Claire, but Clara is a family name (great grandma) and it's really grown on me recently.

Also, FN or MN? What would you pair it with?

Well my name is Claire so I'm biased :p
I don't mind Clara though but it's pronounced a few different ways and I only like it pronounced like CLAAAR-uh not Claire-uh or Clarra if that makes sense

I think it's a nice middle name too... perhaps I like it more as a middle name. As my first name, it can be boring, but I like how it is unassuming. It's not overly frilly or feminine, but it's not a masculine name either, and it's not too trendy or modern, nor is it old fashioned... you don't really jump to any conclusions with the name Claire. So it's an easy name to live with, apart from the fact that it rhymes with heaps of words :p

My great grandmother's middle name was Clara - pronounced Claire-ah not Claar-ah. I love it.

Claire's my favourite - although I did go through a stage of liking Clare better - but I do liked Clara too, pronounced claar-ah.

I like Clara. Claire is fine, but the Claire's I have met were a little stuck up so that sort of ruined it for me.

I like Claire, but I've never really liked Clara. Plus it always makes me think of a really scary version of Heidi I used to watch as a kid.

I like Claire. Clare always seems incomplete to me.

I think of Clara as a separate name but I like it a lot as well.

Claire and Clara. I would consider them generally interchangable depending on which ending sound you need for the name to work best.

Claire. Spelled that way too. Clare looks like it's missing something, IMO, and all the Claras I've ever known are total bitches, so no.

I would never use any of them, because I don't like them, but I think that Clare looks like the best.
