(no subject)

Yesterday in a post about Irish names (in Australia) MrsDuryee noted the name Ainsley. I had seen it several times while looking for the name Caeslin, and after that post I just kept saying it to myself. It has jumped to one of my top girl names as I think it's just absolutely gorgeous, and my husband actually likes it too (which makes it grow on the list even more since there are very few names we BOTH like!)

I was thinking of middle names to go with Ainsley but I need some help. I think it would sound best with a 1-syl. middle name. The ones I came up with were:

Ainsley Grace
Ainsley Eve
Ainsley Mae
Ainsley Faith
Ainsley Rose
Ainsley Belle

unfortuantely, none of these just.. POP.. to me... got any suggestions?

One other idea I had (which was nipped in the bud by my husband, and was mostly a joke anyway) was to carry on the family tradition-- my mother's name is Kathi Jo, I'm Ashli Jo, and I suggested Ainsli Jo. Got any feed back on that one?

When I read one syllable the first thing that came to mind was Jo before I even finished readiung your post. ITs a great family tradition to carry on :) Ainsley Jo is great! I also thought of Ainsley Joy :)

The name is pronounced Aynes-lee, right?

I love the "common" middle names of today, like Grace, Rose (my first name!), Joy and even Belle, so I think those are delightful.

Although I love the short classic middle names, I actually prefer long ones, just because we so rarely write our middle name it can be fun to have something long and "luxurious." My middle name is Margaret, and I usually love it.

Having said all that, Ainsley Josephine is one of the best combinations I have heard in a long time. I love it. If you used it, the joke could stay alive without being ridiculous (i.e. Ainsli). What do you think?

LOL. Figures.

What about the following long names:

Ainsley Amelia
Ainsley Corrina
Ainsley Rachelle
Ainsley Alexandra (or, my favorite, Alexandria)
Ainsley Virginia
Ainsley Heather
Ainsley Katherine
Ainsley Evelyn
Ainsley Allison
Ainsley Christine

and of course, the best middle name of all time,

Ainsley Elizabeth

I am not looking forward to these discussions. We are both so stubborn. :)

Are you TTC or just discussing?

Same with me...on just about everything (although I think it will be 4 or 5 years until we try). :)

Wow, I had no idea it was a girl's name. I've only known guys named Ainsley.

It's not exactly rare - 439 for girls in the U.S. last year - but it's rarer and rarer on boys, as are most -ley names.

Oh, I know, I was just commenting on what the site said. I would definitely contest its rarity!

Ainsley is a family name in my family, for men. :] (distant relative of mine (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Arthur+Ageton&btnG=Google+Search))

I like Ainsley Grace too.

How about Ainsley Jolie?
It may look a little bit too much like Angelina... but it's including the "Jo" tradition, and I think "Jolie" is a beautiful name.

I ♥ Ainsley.

Anyways...how about Ainsley Joelle or Ainsley Joette?

Joanne/Joanna/Joan are other "Jo" names

My best friend is Kate Ainsley, but I think it's a nice first name too

I really like the name Ainsley. My friend's little sister's name is Ainsley Carla which I quite like. Plus, there's a great character on The West Wing called Ainsley...

If I were choosing a middle name, I'd probably go with something longer as suggested above. Congratulations and good luck!

Claire, Kate, Jane, Jean, Gem, Blake, Blaire, Faye, Joy, Greer, Bree, Gray, Kit, Rae, Dawn, Jill, Hope, Jade, Beth, Bess, Day, Lex, Brynn, Britt, Kat, Bryce, Love, Jaye, Dee, Elle, Laine

I love Ainsley. But my favorite combos are Ainsley Victoria, Ainsley Rhiannon and Ainsley Caroline. I also like it with Sara/h.
