I think my husband and I are finally getting somewhere. We had pretty much settled on Ada, it wasn't our favorite but we settled on it because we couldn't decide on anything we liked any better. But now we're starting to explore our options more and really read through name books/websites. I think if we can't decide on a name that we both love, we'll end up naming her Ada by default and that seems so wrong, but I don't know what else to do! So here's a running list so far and hopefully we can find the perfect name...

I like Edith (nn Edie/Edy) and Maude. My husband likes Camilla (nn Milla/Millie, Cami), and Adina.

Edith
Maude
Camilla
Adina

Opinions please?

I like Edith and Camilla. I think Edith Camilla * is nice, depending on whether you think your last name works with it.

The only one I really love is Edith (the rest are all okay). Oh my gosh, Edith! More little girls need to be named Edith! And AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Edie!!!

I'm so thrilled to see that other people like Edith as much as I do. It seems everyone I mention the name to says "Thats too old sounding" "It makes me think of Edith Bunker" etc.

I highly doubt kids growing up with our daughter will be teasing her about Edith Bunker, I would be hugely surprised if they even know who that is!

And what do people mean "its too old sounding"? Edie is absolutely adorable-not to mention the fact that old fashioned names are making their comeback. I dont see how its too old sounding.

I love it and I think its one of my hubby's favorites, that is to say, that I am sure I could talk him into liking it. ;)

Are you still planning on using Samantha Jane as middle names?

Edith and Adina are pretty. And Ada could be a nn. I think Adina Rodriguez sounds nice. Edith Rodriguez does too though!

I knew a pretty screwed up girl named Camille, which is why I'm not very fond of the name. And Maude is ok.

I agree. I don't think it sounds too old at all. It sounds very refreshing, and Edie is about as modern adorable nickname as you can get. And you're right, old-fashioned names are coming back anyway.

Maude and Edith sound a bit old (though I like Edie/Edy a lot)

Camilla sounds great with your last name but with 2 middle names may prove to be a bit long although I like the nn Millie a lot

Adina is nice (I like it better than Ada but it may be a lot of -a sounds with Samantha)

I still like Cora a lot

I agree with Adina nn Ada. Since Ada was the OPs choice for so long they might regret choosing another name later. I had a hard time with it, My sons name in the womb was Malcolm and I always spoke to him and imagined him with that name. 2 weeks before he was born we changed our minds and out came Silas, I love his name and wouldn't change it but it was weird for a few months there. DH and I found ourselves wanting to call him Malcolm more than once out of a habit we didn't know we had created.

I like Edith and Camilla, so I'm not helping much, I'm afraid! I like those better than Ada and Cora, although I prefer Ada to Cora. And I prefer Aida over all of those!

Ada is very sweet, I love Adelaide with the possibility of Ada.
Maude is exceptionally ugly, Edith slightly better and Camilla is okay but I don't like Millie, and Adina doesn't do anything for me either, I don't like the harsh 'deena' sound, gives it a downmarket feel.

Edith and Maude are too old fashioned for me, but Camilla's nice I'm not so sure about Adina.

I might choose Edith or Maude myself, maybe. Camilla and Adina are so-so. I like Ada best of all 5 names.

I think I prefer your husband's taste. I like Camilla and Adina, not so much Edith and Maude. Camilla Maude sounds pretty though.

I like Camilla the best. Edith and Maude are okay but I think Camilla is prettier. I don't like Adina at all.

I like Maude & Adina. And love Camilla, especially with the nn's Milla and Cami. However, Ada is still my favourite of yours...

Some old fashioned names I can picture on newborns these days, but not Maude. The others are far, far better. Mabel is also popping into mind.

Camilla - best of the four, but I dislike Cami. I do like Millie okay, I guess.
Edith - I'm still not totally onboard with this name but I have been starting to have a greater appreciation for it. Edie/Edy is very cute.
Adina - Sounds made up to me and I just don't like it all around. The only plus is that you could use Ada as a nickname.
Maude - I can't stand this name. Also, at least with how I say it, it rhymes with the first syllable of your last name and I don't care for that. MOD RODriguez

I like Ada better than these. Sorry. :\

I prefer your husband's choices. I like Camilla, think Adina is okay, and find Edith and (especially) Maude to be ugly, sorry! ^^;
