(no subject)

Just saw an entry with these names in it. I suppose they are girls, not sure of their ages. I kind of cringed..>.>

Mallika and Labeena

EDIT: There is a guy that I've been hanging out with named Philip Richard Carroll. WDYT? I kind of like it.

Sorry if it seems crass but Labeena made me think "labia" when I said it in my head...

How is Mallika pronounced? I know a girl named Malaika pronounced muh-Like-uh and I think it's beautiful. I don't like the spelling Mallika though, it looks like it's pronounced Muh-lick-uh. Or MAllick-uh.

I first thought "mah-lee-kuh".

And I thought labia, too.

Yep.

They are both traditional names. Malika is quite common among African-Americans and is Latin. Labeena appears to be Indian. I'd be more specific, but I can only find examples, not definitions.

they're arabic names.

On the friend: While none of the names are ones I particularly care for, it's all very classic. It's a nice, strong, British sounding name, and I adore hearing things like "Carroll" on males.

Mallika makes me think they were trying to copy the Obamas somehow, and Labeena will make -everyone- think of Labia.

If Philip Richard Carroll is his whole name, it's not bad. Very...English, to me :P

My grandfather's name was Carroll. I like it.
