What do you think about the name "Scout" for a little girl?

I don't like it because people usually use it when they're like, 'oooh, To Kill a Mockingbird is my favorite book, I'm literary' even though it's a book that almost everyone HAS to read in high school, so they're really not proving anything, and besides, her name was Jean Louise anyway.

I think it sounds really young, too. Doesn't grow well.

I agree with all of this.

Plus...it's kind of a stupid name :-/

it was on my girls list for years, then my cousin had a baby boy about six months ago and named him scout. when i brought it up, she told me she had never heard of 'to kill a mockingbird'. brilliant.

whatever.

To Kill a Mockingbird.

I tend to picture a boy or girl scout (little kid in a uniform). >_>

Was pretty dumb when Bruce Willis did it.

I like it better on boys, actually.

I really like it, actually. It might have something to do with the fact that To Kill Mockingbird is my favorite book. I don't think it would go well as a first name, though. Maybe as a middle name.

I like it. :) It has to be with the right middle name, though. Can't seem to think of any. I'm curious to know if there will be any suggestions

It's always been a guilty pleasure of mine.

For a little girl, yes. For a bigger girl, absolutely not. I love Scout as a nickname, it reminds me of To Kill a Mockingbird, but I can't see it aging well or being an appropriate name for an adult.

I think it's cute, but it might be better suited as a nickname for a little girl or boy instead of an actual name.

Isn't Scout a dogs name?

I love it, but would never use it on a child. It's one of those guilty pleasure names I reserve to use only on future pets ;)

It's the name of my cousin's kitten, who spent last night eating mayflies and then barfing them up under the coffee table.

I don't think of the book. I think of demi moore and her cracked out parenting.
