How would you pronounce Auma?

My friends sister had a little girl, and her middle name is Auma. Apparently, it is a combination of the first two letters of her Grandmothers' names - Audrey and Marion. She was inspired by Milla Jovovich, her daughters middle name is Gabo (whch I think is the first two letters of her mum and dad's name.)

What do you think of it?
What would your kid's middle name be if you had to combine the first two letters of your loved ones names?

Auma sounds like AH-uma or Ah-OO-mah to me. I can't decide, but I'm not fond of either.

If I combined my SO's initials and mine, we would get Alje or Jeal (from Jessica and Alessandro)
If we were to combine our mothers' names, it would be Paja or Japa (from Janis and Patrizia).

But they all SUCK :D lol

I'd pronounce it Orma.

Hmm...if I combined the first 2 letters of my parents' names I'd get Hehu or Huhe...lol. If it was my grandmothers it would be Mael or Elma, and my grandfathers would give Waho or Howa. My mother and my OH's mother would give Heju or Juhe, and our fathers would give Huia or Iahu...Not a lot of great names there!

Aye, both Mael and Elma look like they could actually be girls' names...but Elma would just sound like Elmer which would make me think of Elmer Fudd...and Mael sounds a little too close to male I think!

At first I thought Ah-ma, but I'd probably pronounce it Oh-ma.

My combo would be Caro or Roca... Roca just makes me think of Boca burgers. o.o

aw-ma was my first instinct.

if i went with my parents' names, i'd get jeda. or daje. i don't actually know my paternal grandmother's first name, so can't do that one. my mother and my SO's mother would be jebe, or beje. not a great selection.

In Dutch, I'd pronounce it like AO-mah, (ao as in Mao), and in English I'd pronounce 'au' like in Audrey. I prefer the first pronunciation.

from my parents i'd get either Brla or Labr. That wouldn't work.
Grandmother's would be Coma (Constance & Marie) or Maco and grandfather's would be Wijo or Jowi (John & William)

I would pronounce it "Aw-muh".

The two loved ones I really want to name a baby after actually have the same first name, so if I did that it would be "Bebe". lol. If I did it after my grandmothers it... wouldn't work. It would either be Magl or Glma

my grandfathers would be Kear or Arke.
my mom and my husband's mom would be Deli or Lide.
my dad and my husband's dad would be Kero or Roke.
my husband and I would be Kekr or Krke.

...none of these are working. :P Deli is at least a word, but definitely not a name!

Ow-ma, not so much emphasis on the "ow".
Combining mine and my fiance's names: Saja or Jasa
Combining our mother's: Code or Deco
Combining our father's: Brha or Habr

I lol'd at code and deco.

I'd pronounce it OH-ma, which is funny because that's how Oma - German word for grandma - sounds.

Don't like the combination of names for the kids' names. Maybe because everything that I could do with the names from my family and friends would sound and look ridiculous. It's much more fun to do this with 'ships.

Veed - Vera Edith
Wido - Winifred Dora
Ando - Andrew Donald

Lian - Lindsey Annabel
Nija - Nigel James

Ando is the only one that sounds like it could be a name. It's a nice idea and a good way of honoring someone whose actual name you might not like. Auma (I'm pronounding it Or-Ma) is quite pretty sounding, but Gabo is just horrible!

Aw ma

But, I seem to think it's a real name. Can't find it, but I do.

I like it. It's cute.

I'm not a fan of made-up names. From pairs of names in our family, you can get Maco (or Coma...) Jaro or Roja, and Naja or Jana. Of these Jana does actually look like a name, but I'm not convinced it'd be a good idea.

I would guess AH-muh. It's pretty, but I think it was smart of them to relegate it to a middle name.

My boyfriend and I: Stam
My parents: Mish
Our fathers: Mian
Our mothers: Sham
My grandmothers: Jevi
My grandfathers: Wish

I'd pronounce it AW-ma. I think it's cute, despite being a made up name. But at least it's made up but still with meaning.

If I had to combine letters, I would get:
Prev (my grandmothers)
Pedi (my mother and mother-in-law) haha

Frph? (my grandfathers)
Jega or Gaje (my father and father-in-law)

Not sure about Auma, I'm saying it like "Ow-mah."

Mine would be Nevith, Nedith or Juva, Judeva (Neva and Judith).

My first guess was "oh-mah", but then I assumed "aw-mah/muh" after reading where it came from. It's interesting - definitely a good way to name after a family member sort of subtlety, without having to make any family members jealous! Ha.

Boyfriend and I - Jeda (which I would probably insist on rearranging the spelling to Jade)
Our mothers - Dean (would you look at that - I kind of like Dean as a middle name, so if I ever decide to use it, I could tell him it's after his grandmothers)
Our fathers - Rist (don't think I'd use this one)

I dislike Auma a lot. I'm pronouncing it ay-OO-mah.

Combining my mum & dad = JOAN.
Combining my SO's parents = SUKE.
Combining our sisters names = SODA.

I think I like Joan best! :)

lol yeah it has always bothered me. She gets so pissed off when people call her "RY-nuh", but it's like... HELLO THAT IS YOUR NAME. No person in their right mind would see that and jump right to "Renee".

Ah-ma, or Oh-ma, would be my first guess.

If I combined my grandmothers' names, it would be Jama or Maja, or if I could use my great-aunt (more like a grandmother) Jaze/Maze/Zeja/Zema. Yeah, don't think I'll be doing that.

Ah-muh?

if i were to combine my mom & dad's names i'd get Zohe (which might be a weird form of Zoe/Zoey, idk, or Zo-hey) or Hezo (Hez-oh? Heez-oh?)

if i were to combine my grandmother's names i'd get Leam (bad spelling of Liam, i think) or Amle (Am-Lee, not awful, imo)

if i were to combine my grandfather's names i'd get Hofl (Hoff-el?) or Flho (a bad spelling of Flo, maybe)

I'd pronounce it aww-mar

Combining my grandmothers' names (Adrienne and Sheila), I'd be Adsh or Shad
Combining my parents' names (Janet and David), I'd be Jada or Daja
Combining my grandfather's names (Harry and Leslie), I'd be Hale or Leha

I suppose Jada is a real name, but I don't like it.

I would pronounce it like Aw-mah, but I'm probably wrong :P

If I did that with my parents' names... well, my mom goes by Daisy (one of her middle names), and my dad's name is Dennis, so it would be either Deda or Dade LOL. Or, if I went with Linda, which is my mom's first name, it would be Lide or Deli (ahahah, deli. Awesome).

Grandmothers: Julie & Sarah = Jusa or Saju
Grandfathers: Jacob & Hedley = Jahe or Heja

Hmm, nothing too great lol.

To the OP: Please ignore the identical comments from two different people in your email. I had a blond moment and posted as one of my roleplaying characters, lol.
