My Job Just Got Hard

I have been settled on a girls name for my entire pregnancy - Mila Aloha Sanchez.  Aloha is my mother's name, and i wanted to honor her for raising us on her own. 

So now i've had a wrench thrown in my plan, which comes in the form of a BOY. I am at a loss on names. I've left it up to my husband, but not so sure that is a good idea. The two names we've come up with so far are Milos (Mee-Lohs) and Cassius (Cash-Us, after Muhammad Ali.) Thoughts? Honesty won't hurt me ;).

I liek them seperate, of course I don't get the Cassus thing.. I mean I like the name and the pronounciation but why Muhammad Ali? I remember an emperor that cvarried the name... don't ask me exactly right now, I'm on cold medicine xD

Milos is cute but I would be tempted to say My-lohs and not Mee-lohs though either one is cute.

i guess it does seem rather random! My husband has been a boxing fan his entire life and a HUGE fan of Ali. We've even taken a 3 day weekend to visit the Ali museum in KY, that's how fanatic i'm talking. Cassius Clay is Ali's real name - i just think it's a neat name and has a bit of (strange) meaning behind it for us.

Although, I'm sure he would have to have to hear the Muhammad Ali thing almost anytime he told someone his name. But maybe by that time comes a lot of his peers won't be so in the know with such things.

if you used Milos and had a girl later and named her Mila, i think it would be a very strange sibset, and Cassius would be alright. not my style, but not bad!

i think milos will definitely get mispronounced. i've never been a big fan of cassius. if you really can't think of any other names, check out nymbler.com! :)

mommyaubrey makes a good point - if there's a chance you'll have a girl in the future and you think you'll still want to use the name Mila, I wouldn't go with Milos for a boy because the names are so similar.

i would personally stick with milo or miles, theres going to be a LOT of mispronunciation in that boys future otherwise.

i like cassius a lot. i think cash is one of the coolest nicknames ever.

"Cassius Sanchez" feels like a real mouthful to me... Milos Sanchez sounds really nice! I did want to pronounce it "My-los" though.

I actually like both of them. I wouldn't use them, they're not my style, but I can see them both working. And since I always have the urge to pronounce Milo as mee-loh, and do it most of the time, I definitely don't have a problem pronouncing it mee-lohs. I like that.

I have no trouble pronouncing Milos and I think it is a fine name. Cassius I like less, but is okay as well. There are drawbacks to both names though. With Milos Sanchez, the end 's' and beginning 'S' run into each other, which makes it sound more like 'Meelo' Sanchez. Also, as said by others, if you ever want to use Mila for a daughter, it would probably be wise to skip this name. Cassius Sanchez doesn't feel nice to say. I think it's all of the similar sounsd: SH S S CH
