pronunciation
Jul. 5th, 2009 05:09 pmhow would you pronounce Keighly?
At first i read Kay-lee, then Ky-lee...then after some more pondering i decided that if you put an l in front of eigh it makes 'Lee'- so therefore it would be Kee-lee?
ETA:I read the name in a book- unfortuantely it was the main character's name and i spent a couple minutes going 'whhaaat?' before i decided on a pronunciation lol.

Date: 2009-07-07 02:15 am (UTC)Though there's a town near where I'm from called Keighley, which is actually pronounced keef-lee. The -gh makes an "f" sound like in enough.
