[identity profile] ashadelic.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I've posted some of these before (like nearly a year ago) but I just thought I'd see what you guys thought of the names my husband and I have picked out for our eventual children. No plans yet to have any, but it's always good to be prepared!

Girls:

Kaeslin Amari (CASE-lynn AM-uh-ree)
Zoe Lane (Zo-ee, not Zo)

Boys:

Tidus Aaron
Elijah Malachi

Other names we've talked about:
Mika, Isabella, Arianna, Jarin, Aja (pronounced like Asia), Katrinka, Karen
Brody, Garik, Xavier, Jabe, Bryon Robert (my dad's middle and his dad's first names), Silas

I've been back and forth on the spelling of Kaeslin. I dont like the way it looks with a C, Caeslin, I like the way it looks with a y, Kaeslyn, but I'm afraid it's too........ ya know, tossing the y's in every chance you get.. I remember someone giving the advice that eventually if she tries to become a business woman she's going to get more respect with an adult looking name than one that always seems like she's 5, but I'm just not sure which would be best:

Caeslin, Caeslyn, Kaeslin, Kaeslyn (obviously, the K and the i is my top choice right now)

I like Mika, Aja, Jabe, and Kaselin but Amari, I also like Zoe. Maybe Zoe Lyn?

I really like your top girls' names! I don't really like any of your "other names."

I really like the name Kaeslin. Personally, I would spell it Kaeslynne, but that's me.

My boyfriend and I were going to name our last child Skyler Malachi (if it were a boy,but it turned out to be a girl!). I've never known anyone who had even heard of the name before.
From: [identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com
You didn't know anyone who had heard Malachi? It's biblical! Malachi is the last of the minor prophets in the Old Testament, and he
(a) Reproves God's people for their impiety (Malachi 1;;3:7-15),
(b) Fortells the coming of the Messiah (Malachi 3:1-6)
(c) Tells of the judgments on the wicked and consolations of the righteous (Malachi 4:1-3) and
(d) Tells of the coming of the forerunner of the Messiah (John the Baptist) (Malachi 4:4-6)

I never associated with religious people, so that could be why.
From: [identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com
Well, I don't consider myself "religious" although I guess some would. I do consider myself spiritual, and you can now say that you do associate with them.

I like Amari but not Kaeslin. It sounds made up to me. I really like Zoe Lane and as someone above said, Zoe Lynn.

Tidus is ok, also sounds made up. I love both Elijah and Malachi, but not together.

Of your "other names," I like Ariana and Brody.

I like Zoe Lynn too! Its a good combination of a more "trendy" name and an older, more solid name.

ditto on the Elijah and Malachi but not together too.

I like Kaeslin out of those spelling choices. I don't really like the name at all, but I just pictured seeing a resume with each of those names and Kaeslin seemed to be the most "adult fitting". I don't like it with a C either and the y makes it look like random letters thrown together. I like Amari with it too.

I like Arianna and Aja as well...Katrinka makes me think of someone sneezing for some reason!

I love Elijah...its actually my husband's and my top choice for a boy's name.

Kaeslin is okay. I definitely like this spelling best. I've never heard of it before, though, is it a real name? I like it with Amari. I love Elijah, not really a fan of Tidus.

I really like Elijah Malachi, it's a bit religious though

Zoe Lane is fine, I don't like Lyn as a middle name, and I would spell Zoe like you do too

I'm still finding Kaeslin a bit hard to pronounce

To be honest, I don't think the name Kaeslin, however you spell it, is going to seem like anything other than a five year old girl. Zoe will age better. That said Caselyn would probably be the easiest spelling, phonetically, though I know that doesn't include the K or the I.

I love Elijah Malachi. I'd prefer Titus to Tidus - Tidus sounds like a dish detergent or something.

I actually think of Zoe as more of a five year old girl name. *shrug* So I guess it doesn't really matter, because whatever you name someone, people are always going to have their opinions.

'Katrinka' reminds me of this old SNL skit where Gilda Radner played a little girl who was "walking" a pair of her underwear down the banister on the stairs and she goes, "This is my friend Katrinka. She can slide down the banister too!" LOL

Aja means goat.

I know a Garrick!

I like the "K" also, with the "C", I think people would say the name wrong.

I really like Caeslin, like Caitlin but... not.

I can't say I care for Kaeslin Amari at all, sorry. This might be weird, but sounds like a crime to me. Kaeslin sounds like "casin'" or "casin' the joint" and your pronunciate of Amari sound like armory to me. So I hear someone is "casin' the armory."

Plus in any spelling, it's just one of those contrived trendy names that doesn't look like much to me. Caitlin, Caelin, Keelee, Kayley, Kaeslin, Caeden, Kaitlynne, Kaillen, Kaelen, Caylen. Add in all the other names that start with an "AY" sound and end with a "lyn" or "en" sound and it's impossible to keep them straint. Jaden, Brayden, Gracelyn... all with 35 kreaetyv speleens each. Boring.

I like your other three names though!

I suspect Kaeslin, spelled this way, is not Irish Gaelic because Irish Gaelic does not contain the letter K. Do you mean Caoilainn, maybe?

I had a good friend named Aja back in the day. she liked her name a lot, but she didn't like everyone spelling it 'Asa'... which honestly made absolutely no sense, because i mean, it's pronounced like Asia, and everyone *knew* it only had one letter making the prominent sound... HOW MANY OTHER LETTERS COULD MAKE THE 'ZH' SOUND?!

it sure as hell isn't 's'.

@@

but anyway, yeah, i think it's a very nice name. :)
