personal associations?

when you hear the name ryan, what type of person do you picture?

how about isabelle, luna, stephanie/stefanie?

what are they like, what do they do?

thanks!

i knew an adorably cute girl named ryan. she was a total sweetie. and i knew too many intolerable boy ryans. so it depends on the sex

isabella makes me think of someone classically beautiful and gentle

luna makes me think of a quirky free spirited girl

stephanie/stefanie makes me think of a social butterfly

Where is your icon from? I recognize it and can't place it.

it was one of those joke pictures on the internet about how people SAY how they are laughing but in reality they are just sitting there.

Ryan: Cool, down to Earth guy.
Isabelle: Makes me think of my mom's chihuahua to be honest. Peppy, sweet, and loud.
Luna: Weirdo but very sweet.
Steph: Loudmouth, thanks to Full House

Ryan, to me, is a jock... or at least a really big, strong guy. I haven't known many Ryans, but the one who sticks out in my mind is really into dirtbiking and t hings like that.

Isabelle makes me think of Bella from Twilight, which... yuck. No.
Luna makes me picture a loner kind of girl, maybe goth, long hair, maybe into anime or something.
Stephanie/Stefanie makes me think of a very happy, funny girl. One of my favorite people in the world is named Stephanie.

Ryan - your average Joe kind of young guy, but not in a bad way. A hockey player.

Isabelle - a little girl.

Luna - a little girl.

Stephanie/Stefanie - an average young woman, maybe about 25. Maybe a hairdresser or something.

[identity profile] politicking.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
It's funny because I have a friend Stephanie and so I always picture her (she is very laid back, very spontaneous and fun)... but then Stefanie- I picture a girl I knew with it spelled that way who was very eccentric and weird, but in a good way lol. So depending on the spelling, I actually picture two similiar, but different types of people.

hehe, glad to hear that!

ryan: one of those jocks in high school who arent jerks and are actually really nice guys, and really intelligent and sensitive. poetic, even.

isabelle: girly girl with a major tomboy streak.

luna: quirky and quiet.

stephanie: big hair.

ryan is neither a jock or a clown but liked by both, extroverted, likeable, does not particularly stand out in any one field.

Isabelle is refined and used to finer things, can be a bit spoiled and insensitive but does not mean to

Luna is weird and wears out there clothes and jewelry and a unique haircut, possibly believes in palm reading.

Stephanie is a popular chick and can be a little high maintainance and insecure. Works real hard.

Ryan - I actually think about girls now like Ryan Starr, and Ryan the daughter's name of Alexis Grace from American Idol. I think it is overused though on guys and girls. /o=

Isabelle - I actually prefer the spelling Isobel cause it's not so daint but I do like the name. Especially cause it can be shortened to Isa or Belle. Cute options.

Luna - Love this. Of course I think of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, a great character and a great soul. I also think of the moon which I love as well. A+ for this one.

Stephanie - it's an ok name. I guess bc of Full House I think "Step on Me." I have known more than one Stephanie I don't like for different reasons so I may be biased. :)

Ryan - Snobby jock (probably because of my cousin)

Isabelle - Little girl, just because it's so popular now-a-days

Luna - Free spirited girl

Stephanie - I have so many different associations with this name, from being someone who gets in trouble with the law to being someone who's really into sports...

I love Ryan and Isabelle but Luna reminds me of a really random chick and because of personal experience I always associate Stephanie with someone who smells badly.

Ryan (for a boy) I'm torn because I've known so so many Ryans. Mostly, I think of the popular, jock, trouble-maker types from high school because there were so many of those, coincidentally, named Ryan in my class. I still love the name though, for either a boy or a girl.

Isabelle, like others have said, a little girl or a soft-spoken, fair-skinned young woman.

Luna, definitely "exotic". Maybe Mediterranean or Latina. Darker-skinned with long, dark hair.

Stephanie, your average girl. Meh.

[identity profile] morningapproach.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Ryan is a gamer, very solid and dependable.
Stefanie is very spunky, reliable, but sorta ditzy :)

(it helps that I am Stefanie, and my SO is Ryan!)

[identity profile] 0o-faerie.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I always picture a jock when I hear Ryan. A football player. No clue why!

Isabelle is a graceful, middle-of-the-road person to me. Quiet, too.

With Stephanie...I just picture this girl Stephanie that I once knew and didn't like all that much.

Luna reminds me of Luna in Harry Potter, which is good: reliable and a little odd, a little different, but in a good way.

[identity profile] breenah.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ryan - Cute and jock, but nice
Isabelle - dark hair, pretty, possibly exotic, quiet
Stephanie - either Stephanie Tanner from Full House or an annoying girl I went to HS with
Luna - Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter

[identity profile] velkoria.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Ryan: blonde guy with either colour eyes that is mildly to very athletic

Isabelle: going by my friend Isabella long dark hair, tall beautiful femenine but not overly so and not snobby as most people tend to think.

Luna: dark hair again, blue eyes, pale, funny, quirky, into nature (and one of my top names)

Stephanie: my best friend's name but one I would never use... edgy, nearring punk, very dark hair and eyes but pale, very intelligent and scared of boys.

[identity profile] monkey-fruit.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Ryan- Boyish. Playful, friendly, maybe a little sporty. Dark hair.

Isabelle- Feminine. Shy and/or quiet or a social butterfly; I can picture someone with this name being either.

Luna- My current girls' name. Artsy, care-free, friendly. I'm artsy, so...yea. Also, associated with the moon, which is a double plus with me because I used to want to be an astrologer or astronomer.

Stephanie- A little average, but nice, friendly. Maybe a little sociable, bold. Dark hair.

[identity profile] laminy.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Luna's a space case. Stephanie is some rich girl obviously born in the eighties. Ryan's a good-looking bad boy. Isabelle is probably rich too, but nicer than Stephanie.

[identity profile] bizzarbutterfly.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
honestly for me, ryan pictures me and resourceful but sneaky kinda guy.

I think isabelle is beautiful

[identity profile] sunshinefleur.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Ryan -- nerdy, but really sweet and artistic

Isabelle -- a spoiled girly-girl (this spelling seems pretentious to me for some reason. I'd think differently if you were asking about the name Isabel)

Luna -- hippie

Stephanie -- a girl born in the 80's. tomboy.

[identity profile] relevancedenied.livejournal.com 2009-07-05 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
ryan - well, i know a girl named ryan. she's fifteen years old and abuses/sells every drug under the sun. she sounds like she's been smoking for forty years and she looks like it, too. so... i'm biased.

isabelle - feminine.

luna - mostly i just think of luna lovegood. but that's not a bad thing.

stephanie - i'm going to follow up on the "born in the 80's" thing, as well as tomboy.

[identity profile] wolff.livejournal.com 2009-07-06 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Ryan- I think of my daughter who is on her way here. :)

Isabella- i think of my friends daughter. I loved this name before it became so popular.

Luna- i think of Luna Lovegood from HP.

Stephanie- i think of every Stephanie i've ever known and there are a LOT of them.
