The hubs and I are expecting twin boys soon. We really like unusual (but not crazy) names and as of now we're planning on calling the kids Tate Easton Keats and Rafferty Josiah Miller. We also really like the name River though so that might end up replacing something. Maybe.
What do y'all think?

Date: 2009-07-04 10:19 am (UTC)Tate, I like - I just cannot imagine calling a kid Rafferty - I guess it is just such a mouthful compared to Tate. Would you end up calling him Raff much of the time, do you think? Are you into nicknames? I am not... so, I like that my boys have all got 2 syllable names. I also think Easton makes a great first name. Though Tate Easton Keats sounds better than Easton Tate Keats.
I like Josiah as a first out of the three names for twin #2
When are you due?

Date: 2009-07-04 06:06 pm (UTC)I like Easton as a first name too but the hubby thinks it's sounds too girly. Plus Tate Mehling (surname) goes together better imho.
I'm due in November and am equal parts excited and terrified! =D

(Guess I should just make my way over to your journal, eh?

Date: 2009-07-04 06:46 pm (UTC)It's gone alright so far although I'm exhausted all the time and can't keep much other than fruit down. :(
Our older son, Rhys, is two and he's more excited than all of us. He's like a little sentry, always by my belly like he's standing guard. ^_^

Date: 2009-07-04 11:19 am (UTC)i really dislike river, i think the names you have chosen are far cooler and more unique (in a good way) than river.

Date: 2009-07-04 11:47 am (UTC)I just think that Easton and Keats are a little too similar to belong to the same person.

Date: 2009-07-04 01:06 pm (UTC)The rest are okay, but not my style. I like River. River Josiah Miller would be nice.

Date: 2009-07-04 01:08 pm (UTC)Tate = tater tots, to me, especially with a twin named Rafferty. Keats is way too literary snob for me (and I was an English major). Miller, Easton, River and Josiah are NMS but alright.
Josiah Easton and River Miller would be much better, but River and Josiah don't really go well together.

Date: 2009-07-04 03:30 pm (UTC)Have you considered using Tate as a nickname for Nathaniel? A little farfetched, maybe, but possible.

Date: 2009-07-04 06:59 pm (UTC)I hadn't thought of Nathaniel, no, although I do like it. I'd be more inclined to shorten it to Nate though. Tate's a family name - my grandfather was called Tate and my sister is 'Tatum' after him - which is why we chose it. Plus it sounds like something you'd read in a surfer magazine, lol.

Date: 2009-07-05 03:57 am (UTC)The other thing is... idk why, but Easton and Keats next to each other sounds strange, for lack of a better word. Too many of the same letters maybe? Personally, I'd do Tate Easton Miller and Rafferty Josiah Keats. But otherwise I'm pretty down with your choices.

Date: 2009-07-05 04:14 pm (UTC)Ideas for if Smelling needs to be avoided:
Tate Josiah River and Rafferty Keats Miller
Tate Josiah Easton and Rafferty Keats Miller
Tate River Easton (although may sound a bit place-y, east+river) and Rafferty Josiah Miller/Rafferty Miller Josiah
Otherwise, I like the names well enough. They're unusual without being awful and crazy. Tate Easton Keats is a little odd with all of the Ts, Ss, and the repetition of the long E sound, but it's not horrible. Tate is on my own list and Rafferty is pretty neat.
