A girl I work with, named Tara, has a son named Anthony Jr. after his dad.  Personally, I am not a fan of Jr.s in general, but then... I asked what she would name a girl if she had one and she said Nevaeh, ugh.  THEN I said what about if she had another boy, she said she would name her next son Tony.  I thought she was joking, but she said she probably really will and that she does not call her boyfriend or child Anthony, so why not.  LOL.

I can't stand when people are so uncreative. But I also hate when they're too creative.

We had some boys at church for a few years on & off & their mom named them Robert & Bobby. Seriously?

we have a family at work and all the kids are John after the father- they go by middle names.

It's a tradition in my husband's family to name the first male after the parent/grandparent. It's always alternating by generation, so for example, his grandfather was Thomas Anthony, his oldest uncle is Anthony Thomas, and he is Thomas Anthony again.
I refuse to follow the trend, and I'm praying we have a girl lol!
There's a similar tradition on my side with the name Joseph, and I ended up with Jo as a middle name >_>

If she doesn't call her boyfriend or her child Anthony, then she calls them Tony, right? Why would you want another child named Tony? I don't get it. So, so dumb.

That just seems really wrong to me, but then again my dad is an Anthony who goes by Tony.

I think that it's an Italian thing (she is, I'm assuming)
I'm half Italian but don't go for that naming after the Dad thing
I have 2 friends with Jr son's whose names they don'y actually like- they just kind of did it to make their husbands happy...then they call the son by initials like AJ or JP

I dislike Jrs to start with, but giving two children essentially the same name, which is also their fathers name really bothers me. Especially when theres all those beautiful names out there. I'll never understand Nevaeh..
