pronunciations?

I discovered two girl names that I think are lovely, but I'm not quite sure if I know how to pronounce them.

Ishana (Hindu)
Ismaela (Hebrew)

Any ideas?

I would pronounce Ishana as ih-shaa-nuh and Ismaela and izz-may-luh.

I really have no idea though.

Ismaela would probably be pronounced "iz-mah-AY-lah" or "ish-mah-AY-lah." That would be my guess. In Hebrew it wouldn't be pronounced as sarahrose suggested but that way is also quite pretty. =D

Ismaela is pronounced yish-mah-eh-la. Yishma = Will Hear, El (pronounced like elle) = God. Ismaela is just the female form of Ishmael. In Hebrew it's Yishma'el. The -ay- sound in the middle is strictly English, in Hebrew it's pronounced with a sharp -eh- sound.

I adore the name Ishmael. I think it is VERY masculine and strong. I could not use it for a girl, even with an a at the end.

The other one...meh.

Thank you, everyone! It didn't even occur to me that it would be the feminine version of Ishmael, but that makes a lot of sense now! =)
