Llewellyn is kind of obscure, but not a bad name. Renesmee is awful, although the idea is sweet in theory. Like [livejournal.com profile] babyrodriguez1, who chose Marilyn for a combo of the names of her mother and MIL.

Isn't Llewellyn a male name?

LLewellyn is a very traditional Welsh name for men. I've got a great-great-great grandfather with that name.

It's meant to be a male name.

I guess it does sound like Luellen/Lou-Ellen etc

But it is very male, I have met at least one before, maybe two or three.

Ugh- Renesme

Definitely male, yep - and the double ll in Welsh sounds very different from a single l, so it shouldn't technically sound like Lou at the beginning, I think...

Yeah, I was disenchanted the first few times I heard Resesmee (primarily because I was expecting Edward Jr.), but it grew on me.

YAY! Llewellyn has been one of my favorite names since I was like 13! It's so nice to hear of a real one. I've only ever met one (well, two, because it was his dad's name too), although I live in the US so I'm sure it's much more common in Wales. As others have mentioned, it's curious that you've capitalized "male," as if it's odd for Llewellyn to be on a male. It's not... it is a male name. Llewella is the feminine form.

And also, it would only be pronounced like Lou-Ellen in English. In Welsh "ll" is pronounced differently. More like "hl."

I've never read or seen Twilight, but I have heard of people talking about this abomination of a name. I guess it's supposed to be a combination of Renée and Esmée? Lame.

Llewellyn was the name of Christina Applegate's character in "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead", otherwise I've never heard of it! I'd assume it was a female name from that though.

Renesemee is a sweet concept, but gah. Icky poo. And "Nessie" is worse. I don't even know if I liked the books =)
