My best friend's little sister has a friend named Esther (Her brothers are Ethan, Eli, and Ezra). It's not my style, but it's a nice name.

To me it's an old aunt's name.

I like it. I went to school with an Esther, and the fact that it worked well on somebody around my age kind of took away the idea of it just being a name for the elderly, though I do have a great aunt named Esther. I don't think that it needs a nickname though.

Here in The Netherlands it's extremely common, so to me it's kind of boring.

I love it (and I've never met anyone called it, so that's a bonus for me).

It's cute! I like it. I know an Esther; she is about two or three years old. She has older twin sisters, Sarah and Rose, who are six.

I think it's a sweet name, and it has an almost exotic feel to it. I have a friend named Maia Esther (in her early 20's), and the lady who works in our apartment office is named Ester (no h). She can't be older than early 30's. Essie is an adorable nn. Ettie or Etta would be really cute too.

Esther is a lovely old-fashioned name. Not so big on Essie though, it sounds too much like something you'd name a cow! :)

I can see the good in it, but I could never use it. It's a 'joke' name between a good friend and me, so it always just makes me giggle.

I absolutely adore it, although I think Essie as a nick-name sounds gross. I think it's simple enough on it's own to not need a nick-name.

It sounds like a little old lady name to me, but I've come across a few younger Esthers lately so it could work.

I used to think it was ugly when I was younger, but I've grown to like it a lot over the years. The story of Esther in the Bible definitely makes the name for me.
