Yesterday I met a mom who had 3 kids, and apparently was a fan of CSI because her kids were named Sarah, Catherine, and Warrick. Sarah and Catherine by themselves wouldn't have tipped me off, but Warrick on top of the other 2 character names? A bit much.

Do you know anyone or have you ever met anyone who had a theme like this in their family?

I had a religion teacher who had sons named Matthew, Mark, and John. But then he had a daughter so it messed up the gospel theme.

Mary? She had a gospel, right?

No, the 4 books of the gospel were by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

in the new bible. But I recall reading in a historical text that there was a Gospel of Mary that was in the bible until it was taken out by the vatican for being Heresy sometime in the 12th century :)

Oh, okay. Kinda bad for me to be in a catholic high school and not know what to classify things as years later.

:D I just love vatican conspiracy theories.

technically I think she did, but it isn't in the version of the Bible most people are familiar with.

I wonder what he named her -- he could've kept up the theme with Mary, even if she didn't technically have a Gospel, or named her after the deuterocanonical book Judith, or one of the old testament books named after women (Esther, Ruth). There are a lot of female Biblical names that are pretty too -- but I guess still not the Gospel theme, lol.

My family is fairly religious and so I have two aunts that named all of their children Biblical names. Aunt 1 named her three sons Joel, Joshua, and Jonah (also all Js, in case you didn't notice) and Aunt 2 named her children Seth, Josiah, Kenan, and Eden.

Oh, he named her Jessica. She was the 3rd kid and at the time he didn't even realize he had a trend going. So when the last son was born, he decided to somewhat complete the theme.

He should have named her Lucy... feminine of Luke.

I don't watch that show, so I would never have known those were all characters. Interesting.

We seem to be in danger of collecting Lost characters, which is mine and DH's favorite show. Totally not on purpose, I swear! Our son's name is Benjamin, and two names we'd consider if having another boy would be Charles and Jack. Two names we'd consider if having a (second) girl would be Alexandra and Claire. We have Margaret picked for our first girl, which isn't Losty at least.

Lost uses popular names, so you can't help the theme - I love the names Charles, Alexandra and Claire.

Me too. My husband is nuts about the names Benjamin and Linus. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't names from the same character. :\

I like Jack a lot, and I love Charlie but something about Charles rubs me the wrong way.

One of my co-workers has two daughters: Destiny and Trinity.

I know a family of 3 whose initials are all D.M.W. They all go by their middle names: [Diana] Michele, [Dina] Meredith, and [David?] Monty. Meredith married Matt, and their children are Mallory, Meagan, and Molly.

My friend is the youngest of 5 and her mother (whose name is Anna Therese) reallllly loves the names Lee/Leah. Her kids are: Sandy Lee (male), Celeste Marie, Carrie Leah, Elise Gay, and Leah Frances (my friend).

a girl i'm friends with on another journaling site's last name is green, her name is emerald, and she has a sister kelly and a brother hunter.

lol i would never do that, but i like all of the names separately and i think it was a cute theme.

lol that is one theme I could get behind. I like it.

then again, I plan to name my first daughter Clover Jade, if that explains anything. :P

Haha, Jade could be another one of their kids!

With Kelly and Hunter it's sort of not automatically noticeable and more like an "OH! Haha!" moment than anything, but Emerald Green sort of smacks you in the face. I think I would've gone with Jade.

Honestly, I kinda dig it. I'd never DO that, because my family is so full of humorless people... but I would applaud, rather than tease, those kids.

totally reminds me of the Amber Brown books. I think eventually she had a friend named Kelly Green too... and there was a joke about Kelly having a sibling named Olive. haha.

I wouldn't have known if you hadn't told me because I don't watch CSI faithfully, and I actually like the names (including Warrick).

Closest thing anyone I know has to a name theme is using all Biblical names for their kids.

I used to go to church with a couple named Aaron and Erin - cute enough since they were married, it's not like anyone planned it... but then they had twins, a boy and a girl, and named them Aaron and Erin as well. Yikes!

Also, my aunt has nine kids...

James (Jamie)
Katherine (Katie)
Jonathan (Jon)
Kelly
Joshua
Jason
Kimberly
Jarred
Joseph (JD)

Jamie married Kandy...
Jonathan (Jon)
Kelsey
Jarren

And Jamie's Jon was born just a few months before my aunt's JD was born, so he was born an uncle, and he's younger than his nephew!

I can't believe I can't think of many really, I'm sure I know some and just can't remember right now. I know a lot of families that stick with one first initial... I know a Matt, Mark, and Mamie, and I can't remember the kid's name but I know Mamie's child is an "M" also... then a John, Julie, Jennifer... I went to high school with a guy name Matt Matts (first, last). That seemed cruel to me. Also I had a friend named Jaime Joy Johnson and that's J overkill... recently I saw a birth announcement for a Luke Harrison Lastname, and the Star Wars reference was obvious to me but I don't think the kid will be plagued with ridicule over it.
