A new name for MYSELF
May. 27th, 2006 03:00 amHi,
Okay here's a weird one for you. I'm not looking to name a baby but I've always been fastinated with names and I'm always looking for what I'd call my baby if I ever decide to have one.
But due to a long bad history or personal circumstances I've decided that it's the right choice for me to change my own name.
So would you help me? Opinions? Advice?
First, middle and LAST (especially last)
So I'm rather hippyish (I'm in my early 20's), I love SOFT names that don't sound harsh when you say them, and I love UNIQUE names.
Well I've been in love with Rain for my entire life. Everyone who knows me knows at least that much about me, I love storms, bad weather, thunder, lightning, and tons of rain.
Well I started going by Rain as my online name a long time ago and I really thought I'd like to start using it offline as well.
So the name I'm thinking right now is
Rain Asha Senova
What do you think?
Yes I know Rain is terribly hippyish. But I'm pretty hippyish/mystical/weird myself. It's fitting in a way.
Right now I'm mostly considering changing the middle name.
I also love Shayla for a first name, something with an R or an S are super soft.
Other names I've considered:
Kiya Rain
Nik Rain (Nik being my nickname from my real name) Not real big on this idea tho
Shayla Rain (These are kinda is bad though because one of my good friends name is Shaylen)
Shay Asha
I don't want anything starting with B, N, or J. Just due to personal silly reasons really, but still. (B is from my fathers name, J is our last name, and N the start of my own first name).
What do you think?
Suggestions for middle names that are soft and meaningful?
Thanks!

Date: 2006-05-27 08:07 pm (UTC)I'm glad you love Rain too! Asha means hope and life, just for your future knowledge. I think I'll keep searching for other middle name options as I'm not going to legally do this for another two months or so.

Neither go well with the other names you gave, but they come across to me as hippy-ish.

Date: 2006-05-27 08:10 pm (UTC)I have considered Rayna though, I think I like that better than Rainy (Rain -eee), that one always bothered me. Thanks for the suggestions, I've got to look up what Audra means now!

Date: 2006-05-27 05:50 pm (UTC)I don't like Asha, but that's due to bad connections with an awful girl with the name, I've always thought Aisa was very pretty.... though place names arent really my thing.
Soleil (so-lay) french for sun makes a beatiful middle name, it's got such a gorgeous meaning & sounds so pretty. I guess with rain it would be a bit over the top though!
My friends mum was really young when she was born, the father didnt want to know & her parents werent at all supportive, so she didnt feel aboe to give her daughter either surname, so she made up a new one for them both! I've always thought that was pretty brave.
She's Antonia Debonair. Rather classy in my opinion!

Date: 2006-05-27 08:15 pm (UTC)I kind of like place names but not extremely popular place names. For awhile I was considering the last name Seaton for myself which is a town in the UK.
I love the idea that your friends mum had! That's beyond a cool idea.
Don't worry about your typing :) I've had many of broken fingers or broken wrists in my day, I can relate!

Date: 2006-05-28 10:52 am (UTC)I have Rain Sophia on my list, tend to think a longer 'classic' middle name works best with short hippy names. Am partial to Felicity too [it's my bunny's middle name], and virtue names in general.
Can relate to the whole thing, am changing my own given name and spent years agonising over it. Sage started as an online moniker too, was going through a hardcore hippy phase (still that way inclined, but not outright). It's grown with me, pun possibly intended.
Have two middle names now; Elise as it's close enough to my given first name to help that transition but distinct enough for me to like (seriously of all the variants of Elizabeth my parents picked the one I don't like). Also use Cerridwen as a 'craft [middle] name' to honour the Goddess and my [Welsh] heritage.
Haven't changed my surname, like it a lot and am close to my father and it honours my Scottish/Anglo-Saxon heritage. Harper is just my pen name, after Harper Lee.
