[identity profile] trivher.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I just saw this posted somewhere - being a name I thought I'd post it here.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale welcomed the arrival of Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, 7.5 lbs on May 26, 2006.

Thoughts?

I think it's nice and noble sounding but not my personal cup of tea.

I really like the last name Rossdale, so I think everything sounds good with it. The name is nice, but entirely not my style. It does flow well.

Whhyyyy Kingston?

I like the rest of it. I am not a fan of Kingston. I would, however, highly recommend KINGSLEY.

I wish they'd dropped the Kingston. He'll probably end up nicknamed King, and that's just a lovely way to inflate the boy's ego.

This is from celebrity-babies.com:

It's a boy! Kingston James McGregor was born just before 1 pm this afternoon by cesarean section in Los Angeles, with a full head of hair! He weighed in at 7 1/2 lbs. Gwen and Gavin apparently plan to call him "King." The name is said to have been chosen to honor both Gavin's English heritage and Gwen's love of Jamaican culture. McGregor, the second middle name, is also Gavin's middle name as well.

Kingston's an area of London, too.
Not mad on it as a name.

Wow, I didn't think she was due yet. That went by fast!

I like it, but it's a little too regal for me.

sounds like a bunch of names thrown together. They don't look or sound good together, but hey, if he hates the nickname King he can always go by James.

Kingston= capital of Jamaica...
I've been there & as a pretty blonde little white girl I wasnt actually allowed further than the outskirts for fear of being abducted & held for ransom, no joke. (this was about 10 years ago)

All a bit scary as far as i can remember so as far as that connection goes i dont like it.. what are they going to call him, King? lol. not as bad as Jermajasty.

James McGregor Rossdale has thumbs up though.

It's too surnamey sounding to me, but it doesn't make me completely roll my eyes with the stupidity, so I guess for a celebrity name it's pretty decent.

Kingston? Gross. That sounds like something you'd name a bulldog.

so its inevitably going to be shortened. to king rossdale? first off, so it sounds like he is the king of rossdale. and secondly? king is a dogs name.
