Carmine looks very feminine in my opinion... When it comes to italian names... I love DANTE, but I don't know how it sounds with the last name...

Here are some more:
ALESSANDRO
ANTONY
ANGELO
ARIS
CELSO
CLAUDIO
DIO
EMILIO
ERCOLE (nn - "Cole")
JAVIER
JOSHUA
GABRIELE (nn - "Gabe")
LOUIS
LUZIO
MARCO (nn - "Marc")
MATTEO (nn - "Matt")
MAX
NATHANIEL
ORLANDO
OSCAR
PAOLO
RAPHAEL (nn - "Raph")
ROMEO
SILVIO
VALENTINO (nn - "Val")

I don't know about the "James Dean" idea... why not use "James" as a middle name? It works so well.

Congrats!!

What about Gian, since you liked Gianna for a girl?

Angelo
Antonio
Arturo
Beniamino / Benjamin (both sound great with the last name)
Enrico / Henry
Federico / Frederick
Francesco
Georgio
Leonardo
Marcello
Marco
Mario
Raphael / Rafael
Roberto
Vito

And actually, I think the name James and the name Dean both go really well as middle names with most of the names I just listed. So that could be cool. I actually have to say I sort of like your James Dean idea. =D

I've actually known kids named James Dean and they go by "James Dean". It sounds great.

If you can't work yourself up to James Dean, then you could always make a combo from his character names:

Jett Rink (Giant)
Jim Stark (Rebel w/out a Cause)
Cal Trask (East of Eden)

Don't forget his middle name was Byron.

I personally love Jett.

I'm not too sure what their family lives were like, one was just a kid in an elementary school where I worked. One was very very small for his age, which is genetic and not name-related. I remember him being in special classes for reading...again, not name-related.

I do not remember anyone ever picking on him or kids making fun of him. That could very well happen later in life, since most elementary-school age kids don't know who James Dean is.

The other one I can remember was yeeeears ago when I was in high school and the boy went to a school where my mom worked (and he was an elementary age boy as well). I don't know his family life either. My mom just mentioned to me that a boy went there whose name was James Dean. As in, not the last name of Dean, but his name was James Dean ----(last name).

I always just assumed his parents (or his mother) was a James Dean fan. I LOVE James Dean, but wouldn't name my son James Dean. I'd use Jett or Cal or Trask (as a middle name) before I'd use the real name.

I think it's cool if anyone does that, though.

He can always go by "James" or "JD". Personally, my cousin goes by J.D. and he's the biggest hick I've ever met.

Dominic is my favorite Italian name. I love it to the point of wishing I was marrying an Italian guy with a very Italian last name!

I work with an Italian man named Massimo, which is so fun to say, and could have the nn Max

Marco is also VERY hot sounding!
