What do you think about the name Winston? My SO seems to love it, but it seems so stuffy to me! I guess the nickname Win is alright, but I don't know. It makes me think of Winston Churchill and this cat.

Why does he like such awkward names?!

What do you think of Linden? For a boy. I mean, obviously Lyndon is male, there is Lyndon B. Johnson, but I hate that spelling. Do you think Linden looks too feminine?

My Aunt's (married in) brother is Winston, and I always thought it was a dignified name.

I don't like Lyndon, Linden, Landon, etc - they just aren't my style.

They both sound like last names to me. Not a fan of either.
Winston makes me think of the cigarette.
Linden does seem feminine to me. Lyndon is worse, though.

I also think of Winston cigarettes, and Win as a nickname sounds very feminine to me.

I think I actually prefer the spelling Linden to Lyndon. It's deffinately not a common name either way... I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's possible for it to get lumped in with the whole Aiden, Jayden, Hayden trend.

I think of Winston as pretty stuffy. Definitely an old man. Or a pet ... I had a figurine of a bulldog named Winston when I was a kid.

I do like Linden, quite a lot, actually. It does look a little more feminine than Lyndon, but not excessively so. It looks a lot better.

I like Linden. I know some boys named Linden and it doesn't seem super girly.

I like Winston all right. But unlike you, I don't like Win for a nickname, and I'm not sure what else it would be shortened to, so I'd be reluctant to use it.
I like Lindon. My name is Lindsay, so I don't think I'd use it because it is too similar (don't want what is essentially a junior), but I'd like it on someone else's kid!

Linden I really like though. Linden isn't really the same name as Lyndon (bc Linden refers to the tree type), and yeah I think it can be unisex. I do know a boy who spells it Linden.

i have known two sheepdogs named winston.

i am on the fence about linden. i dont mind it, and i prefer this spelling. but i cant decide if i dont mind it as a boy or girl name.

I don't like Winston. It makes me think of Winston-Salem, NC... which makes me think of Salem. Which makes me think of Witch Trails and the cat on Sabrina. If I heard Win used, I'd think girl. Wendy or something.

What about Landon? My son's name... so I'm biased. Linden makes me think of Linden Street. I don't think it's too feminine, though.

Presidental names... Tyler? Grant? Reagan?

I guess I'm the only one who thinks of Ghost Busters with the name Winston heh. I think it has a sort of dignified feel to it, but because of the Winston in Ghost Busters, I also think the name has a some what coolness factor.

As for Linden/Lyndon, I think the y often makes a name seem more feminine, however in the case, not quite. Though I do prefer Linden, and prefer Lindon or Lindan more. What would you use as a nick name? Unless you're not into nick names.

Heheheh, I was going to make the Ghostbusters comment, too. In particular, it makes me think of that part in the sequel where they're in the abandoned subway tunnel and they're shouting and listening to their echoes. When Winston's echo doesn't answer back, and then that deep voice groans, "Winnnnnstonnnnn," oh, man, that terrified me as a child. So when I hear the name Winston, that's what I think of.

So I wasn't the only one to notice haha. It's weird though that I don't remember the scene you mentioned. But then it has been a few years or so since I last watched the movie. Your description does sound creepy though haha. And this might make me seem wimpy but the part of that movie that scared me the most was the big puff marshmallow man. Big things intimidate me. I always have this fear of dinosaurs being brought back to life and terrorizing people, and that was just intensified thanks to the Jurassic park movies!

I quite like Linden. If you showed me the name and asked me whether it looked male or female, I might pick female. But as I don't know of it as a girls name and it's not really flowery, I don't think it'd strike me as weird if I met a guy by that name.

I rather like Winston - I think that's what Billie Piper called her son, and I remember thinking it was a pretty good celebrity baby pick. I think it's the sort of name a kid could make their own - I can picture it being quite cool on the right child.
