It's been so long since I read/watched Matilda I don't even remember anyone with that name in the story!

I have a cousin named Lavender but they called her 'Love' for her short and I really like this name. For ages, I thought her name was just Love and only recently saw Lavender written on a book. I was like wtf? But I actually really like it.

i think it would be quite strange on a person. its not one of the colors/flowers that translates well into a persons name.

that said, i would use it as a middle name in a heartbeat, if it had some special meaning to me.

I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, so that's the first thing I think of, and in my mind it isn't a good association.

Even apart from that, I never really liked it as a name (the next thing I think of is Miss Lavender from Anne of Green Gables).

The only problem I have with it is that its really long and there isn't an obvious nickname, so she'd probably be called by her full name ALL the time. That said, its still on my long list of favorite names.

It would probably be just another guilty-pleasure-flower-name for me but I love it. It's my favorite color too.

It's pretty much the same concept as Violet, except it's not all trendy. I actually like Lavender a lot better.

I love it! I don't think I could bring myself to use it (one of those names that are destined for the guilty pleasure pile, perhaps :( ) but it's very sweet. It reminds me of Matilda :D
