[identity profile] jessiac.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
A maths teacher in my school recently searched for the most popular names in my school, an all girls' school. The results were fairly interesting, so I thought I'd post them here. Hope someone finds them interesting! I had always assumed that my name, Jessica, was the top name, and that there were far more girls called Jessica. Anyway, here were the results:

1) Hannah - 17 girls
2) Jessica and Rebecca - 14 girls
3) Charlotte - 12 girls
4) Olivia and Catherine (and variations) - 11 girls.

Names with 10 or more girls included Sarah, Sophie and Rachel. There are 635 girls in 7 years, and they have 323 names and 225 unique names. There are 11 flower related names.

I think she's in the UK ('maths teacher', and her profile). Hannah is quite popular here - number 9 in 2002, 10 in 2003, 12 in 2004, 13 in 2005. It was starting to get popular when I leaving school (probably about the same time [livejournal.com profile] jessiac was born...).

I work in a preschool and I Hannah is popular for girls that age. I have 3 Hannahs. Olivia, McKenna/Makayla/Mackenzie, Kylie, Natalie and Allison are really popular too.
