My cousin had a little girl yesterday and has called her Amy. I'm not sure if she's spelt it that way or what the middle name is. Freakily, on Friday, with no prompting and not having spoken to my cousin about names, I said to my husband "perhaps Josie will call her baby Amy" and then she did! Amy is a pretty enough name, I guess; fairly ordinary but it could be a lot worse!

My mum was telling me about a girl that her school whose name is spelt Aimmiee - so unnecessary!

I've never been a huge fan of the name Amy... it seems to cutesy for me. That Aimmiee spelling is god-awful. But I do prefer the spelling Aimee to Amy.

I prefer the spelling Aimee, as well.

I love the name Amy. I think it has all the wholesome appeal of names like Emily and Emma without being so high on the popularity charts these days. Personally, I'd use it as a nn for Amelia, but it's fine on its own too.

My 32 year-old sister is Amy. I remember when she was in 2nd grade, there were 4 Amys in her class and 7 in the other. I don't know of any young Amys/Aimees now.

I like Amy (or Aimee, that's cool too), despite having had a perky, bothering boss named that. Now I'm curious about the middle name, though :)
I'm guessing it couldn't be Josephine, although Amy Josephine would be extra nice!

I'm a Amy and I prefer either Aimee or Amie. It is a pretty name, but I'm not fond of it, at least not the spelling.

My name is Amy and I am 27 years old. I was the only person in my school and anyone I knew for that matter named Amy until the 4th grade. Then the one girl who transferred to our school with that name was very butch-looking and people thought she was a boy. ha ha! I couldn't stand the idea of her for the longest time mainly because she "took my name". :) Then as we got older, into high school, I thought it was funny because we both had the EXACT same car!

Sorry, don't know why I got off on that tangent. Anyway, my friends always came up with nicknames for me so it's not hard to have a short name like Amy. Yes there are tons of different ways to spell it but I guess that part is up to the parents' taste. I like it because you don't hear many "Amy's" around, no matter what the spelling.
