Date: 2006-05-19 12:26 pm (UTC)Personal taste, I have always liked "Manon". I also like "Maeva", but I had a student with that name who started to like pretending she was a dog, barking in class and hiding under her desk like a doghouse, and I think I would always think of her and not very fondly (it was the number 1 name in France in 2001, I just found out).
I don't like most of the boys names. Théo and Lucas are nice. My favorite French boys names are Aimeric, Mathurin, Ewann, and Killian.
I do not like Inès, Océane, Mathilde, or Tom.
Seeing "Camille" so high on the girls list makes me feel a little bad for the boy "Camille" I taught. And for the boys who get named "Matteo" or "Mathéo" and have five other boys with the same name in their class. It's kind of ridiculous that two different spellings of the same exact name are so high on the list.
Manon

However, <a href="http://www.azopera.com/learn.php?subcat=newtoopera&subpage=pronunciationguide" TARGET="_blank"this site has a WAV</a> of the name being said. It's a guide to opera titles, hehe.

Date: 2006-05-20 03:20 pm (UTC)the only ones i don't like are;
3) Manon- ehh, this is just plan ugly.
8) Jade- tacky name
10) Sarah- borrring
11) Lisa- bit tacky and outdated
14) Marie- bit boring, i dont hate it... its just.. blah
18) Mathilde- ugly.
I'm so surprised Anais is there, i was ignorant to the fact it was so popular elsewhere in the country, i adore it. Especially as a middle name.
Esmé Anais *sighs so pretty*
Léa is a wonderful name to be number 1, but... how the hell is Emma so popular EVERYWHERE! it's not that great!!!
