So, on Facebook... I'm in this community about The Secret Life of the American Teenager(t.v. show) and we were discussing what Amy(the pregnant teenager) is going to name her baby on Monday... and I came across this girl saying her five year old *sister's* name is  Aiden. Really? I haven't heard that being used on girls now?

I personally know only male Aidens (and every other spelling under the sun) and there's a LOT of them. However, I've seen a pretty good handful of female Aidens on birth announcements, oddly enough mainly spelled Ayden.

I recently was looking at the top 100 names for 2008 to see if a particular name was on there. And Aiden/Ayden was listed for the top 100 girl names. It was number 1 for boys, but 80-90's for girls. It's not that uncommon on females. I'll see if I can find the link.

Jayden also made the top 100 girls list.

It's listed on the show's website as Adrian... and she's a girl. I've always seen it spelled like that for girls, too. Except once... a girl that I grew up with's sister was Adrienne. I hated her. So I lean more toward Adrian. =)

I know that's how the show spells it, but it looks so horrific on a girl. Adrian is such a great name...for a boy. Just like Adrienne is such a great name...for a girl.

Aww I love this show, its so addictive yet the acting is terrible. I want her to end up with Ricky because I HATE Ben with a passion.

When I heard the name Aiden for the first time (when I was in middle school, on a kid in the grade below me) I thought he was a girl before I met him, because I thought Aiden was another form of Eden.
