My boyfriend FINALLY gave me a list of 10 names that he likes and it's exactly what I was afraid of - I don't like any of them. And he doesn't like any of my names. So I'm wondering if you guys could give some suggestions of names we both might like based on these lists. Or maybe help me see the light in some of his names - this is his first baby, so I want him to be involved in the naming process and I don't want to completely dismiss his opinions but we are having such a hard time agreeing on anything.

Hugo is definitely my top but he hates it. Lennox is the only one we've sort of agreed on. I'm not crazy about it but I don't hate it either.

Rocky and Rocco are similar enough you could try to compromise, maybe? Name him Rocco but call him Rocky? Something like that.

I've tried suggesting that but it's Rocky or nothing for him and I'm not having that. For the longest time he wanted to name him Rocky Rambo.. can you tell he's a Stallone fan? lol

When we were picking names for my hubby's first, my second, I let him pick the name. The deal was that I got to name the next child. If you're not planning on having any more children you could let him pick the first and you pick the middle, especially if you have children from a prior relationship.

Personally I like the idea of Xavier Dante.... but that's me:P

If I let him have free reign he would definitely choose Rocky, as that is his top choice and I'm not so fond of that. We haven't officially decided whether or not we'll be having any more children but I guess I might be able to let him choose, at least the first name, as long as he doesn't pick anything related to Sylvester Stallone lol

Levi was a name we both agreed on (or didn't hate) over Christmas but I don't know what ever happened to it. I'll have to bring it up again to see how he feels about it now!

To me, Oliver and Xavier are close. I like both a lot. In fact, both are on my favorites list. :)

I don't HATE Xavier, and it's one of his dad's middle names, so I like that it has some significance but I feel that it's a little popular? I think my daughter's name sits around 200 or so on the SSA, so I kind of want something in that realm of popularity but.. I dunno!

I like Dante somewhat, I remember you have a Stella and I think it makes a rather lovely sibset.

I like Felix but Felix Fernandes is a bit of a mouthful!

I think I just need to hear from people that all his names aren't awful (other than Nixon, Rocky, Stallone - and Pierce because my aunt married a Pearce, so I have 4 close relatives with that last name). Knowing people won't be like OMGWTFBBQ?!?!11 if I let him choose the name makes it a little easier for me to accept that as an option.

I don't even know why or where he got the idea that Nixon would be a good name. When he called me over to look at his list last night I was like "like, as in... Richard?" I honestly don't know a single thing about American politics (hell, I don't even know anything about Canadian politics) but I would never use it just because of how well known the name is.

The only name I REALLY like on these lists is Xavier. Oliver and Remy are okay also. I really hate all the movie/really obvious famous historian influenced names on his list though, I wouldn't stand for any of those. Since you've already tried Nymbler...try a top 20? Haha

I don't mind Owen but it is my uncle and cousin's middle name. I thought we could compromise with Cohen but that would require not having a stubborn mule for a boyfriend! While I'm mostly willing to compromise with his names, anything I suggest gets a resounding NO. Men.

It almost seems like if you name the child Rocky or Stallone, that they will inevitably really small and not rocky/stallone-like at all, and it will just be that much more obvious.

The only one I really like is Remy, Oliver and Hugo are ok, although I just think of Victor Hugo.

Smack that boy and tell him that Stallone, Rocky, and Nixon are not good baby names. I don't like Rocco either and could see that getting a kid made fun of a lot. Same with Mac unless it were short for something. He'd get a lot of Mac and PC jokes. Since Cohen is a surname I wouldn't use it unless there was family significance.

You might want to consider using some of his names as a middle name. Lee is a great middle name. Actually, since I read down and saw that you both like Lennox you might want to consider using that as a middle name.

Out of your two lists I really like Lee, Xavier, Grant, Hugo, Oliver, Mac, and Rocco. I think that Xavier Lee or Hugo Grant would be really cute names. While I love the name Mac, I feel that it could lead to some teasing (like Big Mac or Mac vs. PC.)
