Hippy Names?
Mar. 6th, 2009 08:50 amSo, DH and I have been "arguing" about names. I like a particular name and he thinks it sounds like a "hippy" name. I don't want to tell people right out what I want to name my munchkin, but I do want to get some feed back on the following names (some of which I like, some of which I think are okay, some of which I don't like at all). Which of the following would you call hippy names:
1. April
2. Willow
3. Nadine
4. Sunshine
5. Freya
6. Violet
7. Rowan
1. April
2. Willow
3. Nadine
4. Sunshine
5. Freya
6. Violet
7. Rowan

april is "dated" [the only Aprils i know were born in the eighties]
rowan is "trendy", but not in an obnoxious & annoying way. [this one is my favorite of your list]

April is dated but I wouldn't say hippy.

Date: 2009-03-06 05:36 pm (UTC)Not exactly the same thing, but Freya and Rowan strike me as "Ren Fest Nerd" names. Willow possibly falls into this category too.

Date: 2009-03-06 06:18 pm (UTC)I used to think of Willow as a hippy name until I learned that Sarah Palin named one of her kids this.
The rest definitely seem kinda outdoorsy, but not overwhelmingly so. I can imagine a hippy with any of those names, but they're versatile.
