I'm currently in love with the name Miles, with nn. Milo.

WDYT?

to me it seems odd to have a nn with more syllables than the name but i do like both names.

They have the same number of syllables. MY-UHLS and MY-LOH. And it happens a lot. Like DAY-VID and DAY-VEE. Things like that.

Yeah, exactly. It's two syllables even if it's not that obvious.

Idk. To get it to be one syllable to me I have to like shout it and say it really fast.

Really? What about Annie for Anne, or Johnny for John? And lots of diminutives have the same number of syllables as the originals (Katie/Kathryn, Mary/Molly, Eddie/Edward, etc.).

It's actually standard practice in Spanish, where the -ita or -ito makes it diminutive. So, for example, Anita is "little Ana" — essentially a Spaniard's version of Annie.

I love the name Miles. It's my son's name. Milo is so-so. And, although Myles is a legitimate spelling, I have issues with all the excessive y's that are inserting themselves into so many names lately.

I like Miles alright. However I'll always associate the name Milo to a cat and Rat. The cat thing cus of The Adventures of Milo and Otis and the rat thing cus I named my rat Milo.

Miles is kind of neat, but the only Milo I know is an 18 hand tall horse. (For the non-horse people here, that's 6 feet tall at the top of his shoulder.) I have a hard time picturing that name on a kid.

I see Milo as its own name. A really nice name on its own. I don't like Miles so much.

They seem like two separate, different names to me. If anything, Miles seems like it could be a nickname for Milo. But I do like both of them.
