it's the name of my friend's husband, and I've never thought of anything wrong with it. People see Rusty as a legit name, so Rustin should be no different, IMO.

I'd give her the benefit of the doubt and assume it's for civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, who was a pretty cool dude.
