I saw this on Failblog and it made me really laugh out loud.  Not only is ESPN a terrible name, but many of the others on the list aren't much better:

LOL, that's terrible. I hesitate to say, though, that some of these names are... actually ok, though nms. Like Esme, Esther, Eugenie, Eurydice even, if a bit out-there.

So would you call the child E-S-P-N or Es-pin?....

I think it's "usually" pronounced "ES-pin"

There was a news story about this a few years ago...the person who first gave it as a name to his kid pronounced it ESS-pin. Yuck! What's next? NBC, ABC, CNN??

I like Eugenie. I also like Esmerelda, but I don't think I could get away with giving it to a child who will be half Irish and half French.

Espen is actually a legit Scandinavian name (and I like it) but ESPN is just...wrong.

I've always kind of like Euridice though. But I wouldn't use it. It's too out there, even for my taste.

Yeah, it's the same thing with the name Kala. I know it's Hawaiian/Indian but it also means fish in Finnish :/

I'm pretty sure that the "fail" part is only referring to ESPN as a name, the (some of) rest are okay.
