culture clash
Jan. 8th, 2005 06:54 pmMy husband and I have talked about first names for the baby quite a bit. Recently though, I was writing out potential first names and middle names together in a chart. I showed it to my hubby and his response was, "What's this obsession with middle names?" In his culture, he's from Mexico, he said they didn't use middle names. We weren't arguing about it, I just had the assumption that our baby would get a middle name, and he had never thought of it. I told him it was so that if the child didn't like the first name, they would always have a legal backup name. Anyway, he's cool with the idea, I just thought it was an interesting cultural experience ;-)

Date: 2005-01-09 09:33 pm (UTC)i was just going to be Arwen Rose
then my grandmother (dads mom) came to visit and said he was playing favorites b/c my moms mom is named Rosa but everyone called her Rose. so the evil lady made my mom put her name on the birth certificate. so now i am Arwen Rose-Doreen Emory..... ugh but since its hyphenated it only counts as one name:) A.R.E. but when i get married (to whomever) i am dropping back down to Arwen Rose __?__
