[identity profile] babyomine.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My husband and I have talked about first names for the baby quite a bit. Recently though, I was writing out potential first names and middle names together in a chart. I showed it to my hubby and his response was, "What's this obsession with middle names?" In his culture, he's from Mexico, he said they didn't use middle names. We weren't arguing about it, I just had the assumption that our baby would get a middle name, and he had never thought of it. I told him it was so that if the child didn't like the first name, they would always have a legal backup name. Anyway, he's cool with the idea, I just thought it was an interesting cultural experience ;-)

The Mexican culture thing is not true, I'm Mexican I should know. My sisters have middles names so do some of my cousins and my friends have middle names too.

But middle names are a good choice incase they want to be known by another name.

my cousins freind (who also happens to be my freinds cousin) is named "Sarah Joy"... her family has called her sarah since she was born...my freind calls her "sarah" ...but when she moved near my cousin she got everyone to call her "joy" so middle names are defintely good!
