[identity profile] danne-gerous.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I stumbled across this community yesterday and, after scrolling through some of the posts, I thought I'd share a few of my favorite names. Bolded are the names I plan on using for my children someday.

Boys : Fox, Rhys, Holden, Theo (pronounced Tay-oh), Callum, Naoise, Eamon, and Dresden.

Girls : Peter Rene, October Jude, Clemence, Margot, Saoirse, Eira, Emory, Joss, and Maude.

Thoughts?  And any good opinions on middle names for Fox and/or Callum?

A lot of your girl names I feel are very masculine. Peter for example, I could never see on a girl. Same with Emory, and Jude. (even though I knew a nun Sr. Jude) I like Margot, Saoirse, Eira. Clemence and Maude I feel are really "old" names and aren't my style, but they aren't terrible.

For guys, I like Fox, Rhys, Theo, Callum, Eamon. I've never heard of Naoise and don't know how to pronounce it. Dresden isn't my style, but again isn't terrible.

No suggestions on middle names, sorry.

Nee-sha sounds very feminine to me, lol - the opposite of most of your other names - I've only known people with names pronounced that way (spelled Nisha) who are women.

Naoise is old school Gaelic and it's pronounce like NEE-sha.

And if you're anywhere that doesn't commonly use that language, you will be telling this to everyone for the rest of her life until she then takes on that responsibility.

Its not fun, trust me. My little girl is Annika, and everyone tries to say it wrong, and I have to correct them. And Annika isn't difficult! Naoise is not going to be a fun name for a child. I do not at ALL see "Neesha" when I look at it, and in fact I try to say it as Eloise, with a Na instead of an El. Heh.

Ah! but how to YOU say Annika? To us (and apparently the proper way according to many people from places that commonly use the name!), its "AHN-nick-ah". I often here "ah-KNEE-kuh", or "ANN-ik-ah" and they make me cringe! :-p

Malory is easy! But then, I am a old school BSC fan. ;)
