I hate names that are also words (Lily, Grace, Sage, etc.) that people change the spelling of -- Lilly, Grayce, Saige, etc. It's unnecessary and ridiculously annoying -- especially for the child, who will constantly have to correct people.

My cousin Grayce eventually got so sick of it, she is going by Grace these days. People could be very rude to her about the original spelling, which is lame, but is a fact of life when your parents decide on a "creative" spelling.

I knew a female Sage in high school. I don't really see it as being either gender, but I guess I lean towards it being feminine because of the previous association.

To me Sage is definitely a girl's name, the same way Rosemary is strictly a girl's name. Saige is ridiculous.

Obviously I love Sage, it's pretty close to perfect far as names go :)
Indeed I happen to be a girl; but honestly I think it's truly unisex, considering both aspects of the meaning and of the other Sages I know the gender split is pretty even.

I really dislike Saige though; feels too trendy and removed from the original name. Still sounds the same, and people will probably just spell it like the herb anyway, so can't see the point.

Sage moves in and out of my favorite names. I like it better for a boy, but I think it can be unisex too. PLEASE DON'T spell it Saige.

i don't particularly like it regardless but i think it's pretty evenly unisex. i prefer it on a boy because i think it's a little blunt for a girls name, but i've heard of more female sages so that skews it a little.

but i really dislike saige. sage is already a word, spelling it saige would just mean the kid has to correct others. plus it looks like it wants to be paige.

Saige is horribly ugly. I think that Sage at all on a girl is ugly, but there's just no reason for it to be Saige. It irks me when names that are also words are changed like that. There's no point.

I do not consider Sage to be unisex. For me, it is a boy name and a boy name only. My second favourite boy name, actually.

Surprisingly enough, no.

But it's probably because I've seen those as name since I was little, and I've never actually heard someone suggest Sage as a name before.

I think it's better spelled Sage, for sure, and I find it slightly more feminine (as in, I'd use it on a girl before a boy) but I do think it can be unisex and I wouldn't look at a boy named Sage weirdly at all.

i only said "no" for the last one because you said "regardless of spelling". if it's spelled "saige", it seems too feminine for a boy.
