WDYT of Benjamin Mikal?

Mikal would be spelled this way because that's the way my father's name is spelled. It's pronounced exactly the same as Michael. Benjamin is my partner's father's name. We have been talking about using a name that honors our family when we have kids, and so far this is our best option.

Love Benjamin and Michael, but I don't like Mikal. Normally I'd say to spell it correctly, but since your father's name is spelled this way, I'd stick with the spelling if you're using it to honor him.

Other than the spelling, I like the name a lot.

I totally understand. I dislike odd-spellings of names, but I feel like if you're naming a child after someone, you should probably keep it in tact. If it's horrific, I understand the urge the change it, though, haha.

I agree exactly with this post.

I didn't think that it would be pronounced Michael, actually. That's the only thing I don't like about it; since you're spelling it that way to honor somebody, I think it's fine.

I like it. The spelling is obviously a little unusual, but it's in honor of your father, so go for it!

Echoing the chorus of "I prefer Michael but since you're honoring your father, don't change the spelling."

Just going on pronunciation, Benjamin Michael is a wonderful combo!

I don't like Mikal spelled that way, but you've got a good reason, so it's fine. :) Other than that, I love the name Benjamin, so I think it's really good. They fit together well.

Benjamin is on our list, I love it. I hate the name Michael no matter how it is spelled, but I'm all for using family names.

I think you will be telling anyone outside of the family who sees the middle name that it is not Mikhail (like Gorbachev) but Michael, like your father. But the names sound very nice together!

Love the combo, agree to just about everyone else on the spelling. It's a great way to honor your fathers, you're lucky that the names are good together!
