Since its the last day of the month today, I had an idea. Lets keep track of how our names taste changes over the year, by posting our top five every month, and how they've changed from the months before. For instance, today post your top five. Then, on February 28th, post your top five from today, and then your top five next month. I know some peoples' name taste doesn't change that often, but it'll still be interesting to keep track here, I think. I'll start in the replies.

Also...maybe I can keep track of how baby_names's taste as a whole changes? Do you think I should?

Seems Twilight inspired; are they? Not that there's anything wrong with that! :) Esme, Jasper, Cullen, and Rosalie are some of my favorite names because of those books. And I would totally name a boy Dexter (because of the TV show, of course).

Oh my gosh, seriously? That's awesome. I had Olive for a long while, without a good middle name, before I actually considered Ramona and when I put them together, I was just like, that's good.

I'm glad I don't know any animals with the name Olive, because I'd love to use it on my first daughter.

Great idea! I've done this in my journal for years, and it's interesting to look back on. I usally add an "interests" section that includes names I've heard/seen that I like... I generally spend a month or so toying around with them, but won't necessarily add to my list. I'm going to add it to my monthly update, if that's ok.

I love Polish girl names but I am not cruel enough to name them that in the US where no teacher would ever be able to pronounce it. So I decided that middle names are good places, even if they all end in 'a' (another reason why I couldn't name them all Polish names they would rhyme.) And I like President surnames for boy middle names - no idea why.
