Do you have a nick name that nobody would guess what your real name is if they only heard it?
I have a few unrelated nick names myself and I just wondered how common it is.
My nick names:

Harrypin Bentit (my cousins called me this)

Dale (a brief name I had in grade school after the chipmonk)

Mom (a name that kept comming back. friends called me this in grade school, again a different set of friends in high school, and once more in college with yet another different set of friends. I guess I'm just that kind of person. I suppose it's no surprize I have four kids. lol)

Then most of my family call me Carol. Which is a no brainer since my name is Carolyn so I guess that one wouldn't count.

What's yours?

Roro, which came from my old Internet pseudonym 'Robokodomo' and bled into my real life. Alternatively, a friend of mine occasionally called me "Boxbox" because of the way Roro is written in Japanese -- simply, ロロ.

I was also Alli-cat in elementary school, haha. People have also tried to call me 'Al', which I hate and always shoot down. I sort of liked it when people called me 'Ari' when I was in Japan, though it was usually 'Arison', as per usual.

Really, more often than not, I'm just Allison.

In middle school I was called Turtle Dingle by my friends, because I got the earring back of a turtle earring stuck in my ear and had to have surgery to get it out, and I usually wore a dangly earring in the other ear. ;)

My Dad called me JoJo McFo because he said it was like I had two personalities sometimes, like Jekyll and Hyde, so JoJo was the good one and McFo was the bad one.

Other than that, not really. My nickname is Josie, and my friends will sometimes call me José. It's short for Jocelyn, and while people usually guess Josephine instead, it's still not so far off that people would never guess it.

A lot of my online friends are now RL friends and they all call me Joe. I even get mail addressed to Joe or Joe Reaves. One of these days it's going to happen on something I need to collect from the post office and I'm going to have to explain that no I don't have ID in that name because it's a nickname based on a fictional character.

My name is Kathryn btw lol.

My boyfriend calls me Kitten - in fact, I'm always a little weirded out if he calls me by my first name, so rarely is it used. That's a pet name that has been picked up by a lot of my friends.

My housemate calls me Cherub a lot, but I think that's just one of a string of 'sweethearts' and 'honeys' that we refer to each other as.

Oh, and my mother and brother call me Buttony Mit, or Mitten. No idea why.

I get all sorts of variations from my name (Jordan) like Jordy, Jords, Jord, Jordo etc I also have a friend who calls me Dan and another who calls me Gordles (?!).

My best friend calls me Valdy. It's a long story but it comes from Valandra and it was to do with a book we're writing.

I have a nick name, Aht from when my brother couldn't pronounce my name. He called me Ahtee, which became shortened to Aht.

Other nicknames include: bean, beano, beanish, LezBean (I hate that one), LezBo (I hate that one more), Lez, Les, and LeeLee. I'm not sure where the bean theme came from but I call my BF Bean names too.

My name is Leslie - so some of those make sense.

You have my favorite name! I hope my future daughter doesn't get nicknamed LezBo.

I love my name. It's rare enough that there aren't a ton of Leslie's, but common enough that it's not "weird".

Haha, Lezbo came after my bf's nn- Rybo (for Ryan) and then he put it on my name in return. He calls our cat, Charlie, Chuck or sometimes Chuckbo too.
:)

Moose was a high school nn of mine (it came from a long inside joke involving a pair of antlers and the guy I liked at the time). It's actually on the back of one of my high school sweatshirts, and ironically the only person who still calls me that is the guy I used to like (we're pretty good friends now).

My cousin used to call me Beedan when he was little because he couldn't pronounce my name (Megan). He still calls me that sometimes.

I had a bunch of other nns in high school but they've pretty much fallen out of use (Plushie, Teddy, Mouse, Supersonic Plush Thing, etc).

My best friend calls me Meggo, but that's pretty easy to guess my name from.

my dad's family calls be Bucket and my moms family calls me Stuk (pn stew-k).

when I was a toddler I used to walk around with buckets on my head a lot and run into things so one of my uncles started calling me Bucket Head, and now that has just been shortened to Bucket.

when I was a young toddler (like a year or so) I liked to "fly" on peoples calves. You know where someone lays on their back and put the baby on your legs and wiggles them around making them "fly". Well my great grandpa called me Stuka Baby, he was in the Air Force during World War II and a common bomber was the German Sturzkampfflugzeug or Stuka Bomber. It was eventually shortened to Stuk.

my real name is Lauren. I also have a normal nickname; Ren... haha.

Owl. And 'Auller'. My name is Alison.

My more obvious nickname is 'Ali'. People have called me 'Al', which I hate.

The only real nickname I've ever had was Queen Lauren. At summer camp about ten years ago when I was a counselor, they were doing counselor introductions and it was all "This is ROBERT! You can call him BOBBY! This is KATHRYN! You can call her KATIE!" I was one of the only counselors without a shortened form of their name, so when they said, "This is LAUREN!" I added, "You can call me QUEEN LAUREN!" I didn't count on the nickname sticking and kids bowing down to me all week. I really didn't count on them being 18 years old and still referring to me as Queen Lauren today.

My earliest two are from my mom: Sal (I don't know why, lol, but she calls me this more than Julianne!), and Sis (she doesn't call me this, per se, it's just for if she's talking about my sister and I - Sis and Chris :P [my sister's name is Christina]).

One of my friends started calling me Jimmyanne and now a few of them call me Jim or Jimmy. Hahaha.

Also, most of my online friends call me Leela or Leelawadee. Long story short, one of our friends started calling us by the fonts we were using in yahoo. I happened to be using Leelawadee as my font :P I kinda like the name Leela now hahaha :P

My sister calls me Jul, rhyming with null :P

I also have the nn's that go with my name like Julianny, Pimpy Julianny (er don't ask .. long high school story that I can't even remember lol), and Julz (pronunced like Jewels).

I love nicknames. I always wanted one as a kid, but apart from the ones by my mom, I never had any till high school or afterwards.

My name is Jessica... which confuses people who hear me being called "Grace."

I was given the name of 'Grace' because of my physical grace... i.e. my clumsiness :)

I don't have many nicknames because my name is kind of hard name from nns but some people call me Sikuri. That's chicory in Finnish. My name is Silja so it's kind of similar but if you just heard Sikuri you couldn't really tell what my real name was. :>)
