I knew that Jacqueline ment supplanter but I wasn't sure if the spelling of my name would mean something different. I didn't know that it was introduced into britain in the 132th century. Thanks:)

Anna means gracious. I don't really know if it fits or not.
Annie (nn) means blessed with grace. Defintely not, I'm incurably clumsy! haha.

[identity profile] kaleido-scope.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)

Well, that's fits me some of the time!

[identity profile] colin-chaotic.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Meagan - "pearl"
Lee - "sheltered from the storm"
Anne - "gracious"

I prefer www.behindthename.com for looking up meanings and stuff.

[identity profile] colin-chaotic.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and... I don't think it fits at all. I mean, gracious? Not exactly. Sheltered from the storm? Nah, I go out and play in storms!

[identity profile] krosp.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, behindthename tends to be more accurate

[identity profile] dkpk1986.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Debra: "honey bee"
Nicole: "victory of the people"

I love my first and middle name, but I don't think that I'm very bee-like. ;) Or victorious, for that matter! :P

[identity profile] glitterberrys.livejournal.com 2006-05-05 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)

That site's a bit hit & miss with meanings, in the grand scheme of things. You'd better off with behindthename.com

Mine [courtesy of behindthename]...
Sage = "From the English word, which denotes either a type of spice* or else a wise person."
Elise = "short form of Elizabeth ... From Ελισαβετ (Elisabet), the Greek form of the Hebrew name אֱלִישֶׁבַע ('Elisheva') meaning "my God is an oath" or perhaps "my God is abundance"

Hmm guess the meaning of Sage fits, or else it's rather ironic (and I do enjoy irony).

My given name has the same meaning as Elise (coming from the same root) and the meaning felt odd, as I'm not Christian. Though have grown to be a Pantheist/Pagan; so am dedicate to the Gods, and nature is abundance. Guess it still works in a way.

*actually it's a herb, but never mind.

"poet" & "fairy place"

I guess it suits.

[identity profile] ciara-belle.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
My name, Rachel, means "ewe" or "lamb". I guess it sort of suits me. But I don't really think I'm gentle enough.

[identity profile] trivher.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
Gazelle Body of Water is mine.

Gazelle yes because I am quiet, gentle but can be fierce when I need to be.

Body of Water no because I am not a fan of water.

[identity profile] scintillated.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Mine means "little raven," which is interesting because one of my favorite poems is "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe.

[identity profile] trissyd.livejournal.com 2006-05-06 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Trista - "Melancholy" ... stupid meaning, but I still like my name :)

[identity profile] mrsduryee.livejournal.com 2006-05-08 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Rosalie: From French ROSALIA

Gender: Feminine

Usage: Italian
Late Latin name derived from rosa "rose". This was the name of a 12th-century Sicilian saint.

This makes no sense. Why is my name from the French Rosalia, which has Italian Usage?
