It's pronounced KEEV-ah. It's Gaelic/Celtic/Irish/what-have-you.

I think it sounds really pretty, but I know if I [an American] named my kid that, nobody would know how to pronounce it. Same with names like Siobhan [sha-VAWN], Aisling [ASH-lynn], etc.

I can't help but think of Kiva.org - the peer to peer lending site. I like the name of the site, but not for a person.
