I much prefer Claire. I love the name so much, but my fiance says it sounds to plain with our future last name (and it's true -- they're both one syllable). I would love it for a middle name for a girl.

I actually know a man named Clare, so to me Clare is a boy and Claire is a girl. I'm not crazy about either, but they have kind of grown on me.

Clare is my BFF's momma's name. She lives in London so I've always thought that Clare was the British spelling while Claire/Clair was a more Americanized version.
