so, we kinda like the name Gage.

but we're not so hot on having a single-syllable first name.

do you know any names that Gage could possibly be a nickname for?

Honestly, I don't think it could be a nickname for anything. It's a full name, to me.

I don't think it could be a nickname for much. It's a stretch, but you might be able to get away with it being a nickname for Graham? But then, that's a one syllable name, too, just longer. So.

Turns out (http://www.behindthename.com/name/gage) it does actually just come from the word "gauge", like to measure. So the logical extensions would certainly be along the lines of:

Rain Gauge
Pressure Gauge
Fibonacci Gauge

Right?

yeah, that's all I can think of. it'll never be a name to me.

a friend of our family has a nephew whose son is named Gage. when she told me, she had this kinda confused/apologetic look on her face like she didn't know what they were thinking either.

My sister brought a date to our brother's graduation. I asked what his name was, and she said "Gage" and I was like, "lol, like pressure gauge?" And she was like, stfu, but she knew I was right.

Hehe. I like Fibonacci. I think I might name a cat that.

It has so many nickname options -- Fibby, Nacho, Gage. Totally a winner!

Gagen! No, just kidding. Fibonacci is a pretty bitchin' name, however.

I can't think of anything that it could possibly be a nickname for, actually. I'm not a huge fan of it but it is a whole name to me.

It's kind of a stretch, but maybe Gabriel?

I LIKE the name, and I think it stands well enough on its own...though I usually prefer longer names too. I dunno, it just works. I can't think of anything right off the bat that it'd be a nickname for, though. :/

My cousin named her son this, but spelled Gaige. My opinions on the name aside, I see it as a whole name. I can't think of anything it could be a nickname for.

I still it as a full name, but a pretty awful one at that. I think that I've heard Gagen before, though. If it's an actual name, I don't know. Gagnon and Gagné are both last names, but they're all the rage these days.

It think it stands as a full name.

Also, the only Gage I know was named as such by his fifteen year old mother so I always associate it as a young mother name. Not saying that's bad, just an observation.

You could use it as a nickname if it was his middle name too.

Gabriel --> Gage?
Eh, not really but its the only thing I can think of.

gabriel? long "a" sounds :D
gregory?
(fibonacci gets my vote. though, the middle name would be sequence. i'd teach him to write his name "1 1 2 3 5 8 13..." XD )
