Two names of friends(ish) children

Skyla
Kamyla nn Myla(Pronounce like Camilla)

I dislike Skyla to no end but I like the name Camilla if only it were spelled that way.

Also, a coworker found out she is pregnant(yay!). If it's a boy they will name him Tyler William and they currently have no names picked out. She's only 12 weeks pregnant so there isn't a huge rush. The baby will be joining big sister Cali(not sure of her middle name).

Thoughts?

I adore the name Camilla, but Kamyla is HORRENDOUS. I hate Skyla. It sounds like someone with an accent saying "Skylar" which I hate almost as much.

Tyler William isn't my style, but it's nice.

Skyla reminds me of using instant messenger and dropping all endings and replacing them with a's. For example: rather-ratha.

I suspect poor Kamyla will never have someone sight-read her name correctly. (I certainly didnt). At least Skyla will be spared that... even if her name is pretty bad too.

Oh god, I didn't even get that Kamyla was supposed to be pronounced Camilla. I love the name Camilla, but that spelling totally ruins it! And I agree with you, Skyla is awful.

kamyla to me is "kah-mye-luh" not camilla. which has the whole "mill" pronunciation like where you deal w/ grain and such in it. kre8tiv spellings are one thing, but jeez. skyla doesnt age well and imo is pretty bad.

tyler william is tame. nms but not horrendous.

Skyla definitely doesn't age well, and if I hadn't been told how to pronounce Kamyla I wouldn't have known it was Camilla either.

Anyway, as I was saying: I hate anything with Sky in it, I think that it's quite trashy. Skye, Skylar, Skyla. Ew. Camilla, is gorgeous, and there is no excuse for Kamyla, other than being trendy and unique.

Agree with all of this. Camilla is such a beautiful name, her mother ruined it. Names with Sky in them just don't age well to me and seem to fit better on pets or stuffed animals.

Camilla is nice, but I think of Camilla Parker-Bowles (homewrecker).
I had a roommate in college named Skylah. She was from Connecticut. I wonder if the local dialect had anything to do with it.

I'm with you, Camilla is lovely but that spelling's awful. Who's ever going to write it like that?! Honestly. If I saw that I'd pronounce it "Kam-EYE-luh."

And Skyla...is kinda okay, imo. I prefer just Skye. I like that.

Tyler William's good. ^^ Actually I was just chatting with my hairdresser who has two little boys named Aidan and Caleb and is expecting another baby in June--doesn't have any boy names picked yet but if it's a girl she'll name her after her grandmother Ellajean.
