My current name ideas
Jan. 11th, 2009 10:20 pmMy soon-to-be husband has kinda a gift with names...
His choice- Corbin Ford (I love it!)
Mine- Emmett Wade (Already the "2nd" choice)
Questions...
1.) Does Corbin Ford sound akward with the last name Cole? ( I realize during school, etc. it will just be Corbin Cole, which I find has a nice ring. Also, it was funny sounding to me but the more I said it the more I got used to it.)
2.) I don't keep up with popularity, so is Corbin a very popular name? I don't want him to be the 10th in the area or something.
But my girl choices are a little less clear..
My choice- Lydia Kresley Brenea (Pronounced Renee with a B)
My husband, however, hates it so it's out. He prefers just Kresley Brenea (our female twist on his name, Wesley)
Questions...
1.) Thoughts on such a long name?
2.) Once again, how many Lydias do you know? Is it very popular?
Last but not least..
3.) I am currently loving the name Lacy/Lacee, but the ever elusive question is Lydia, Lacee, or Lydia Lacee?
4.) Ryan as a girl middle name?
Comments/thoughts? Thanks!

Date: 2009-01-12 03:53 am (UTC)PLEASE don't name your daughter Kresley. It's AWFUL. AWFUL. Lydia is soooo much prettier. At the very least, if you use Kresley, don't use Brenea with it. Two completely made-up names in one is pretty awful.
Lydia totally beats Lacy. And Lacee is awful.
Ryan is a boy's name. If you MUST use it on a girl, middle name is better than first name.

Date: 2009-01-12 04:06 am (UTC)I agree with Lind_saay about the girls choice though, I don't like Kresley at all, it does sound very made up. Brenea isn't as bad, but I still wouldn't put it out there myself.
Lydia is the name of one of my very good friends' daughter - she's the only one I know, which is a good thing! It's certainly not out of date or too old.

Date: 2009-01-12 04:08 am (UTC)For the girls, I don't mind Lydia though, again...it's nms. I don't think it's very popular at all these days. However, I'm very sorry to say that I detest both Kresley and Brenea. I do like Lacy...and prefer that spelling. :)

Date: 2009-01-12 04:44 am (UTC)Lydia is gorgeous! Kresley and Brenea are tacky.
Lydia is so much better than Lacee (especially spelled that way). Lacey always seems like a stripper's name to me, while Lydia is classy and can grow with a person (because, remember, you're naming a human being who won't be under 6 forever).
Ryan is a boy's name to me. Rhiannon or Rhianna or even Ryanne (rye ann) sound similar, but are much more feminine.

Date: 2009-01-12 05:57 am (UTC)Corbin is not my style, but it's alright. I don't think Corbin Cole sounds too bad, and it's not too popular, no.
Lydia is an awesome name, but please please do not use Kresley or Brenea. Trendy, made up, and will not follow your child into adulthood well at all.
Lacey is NMS but could be worse. Please please do not spell it Lacee. It just looks like you don't know how to spell your child's name.
I know a female Ryan, and oddly enough, it kind of works for her, but I think this is kind of difficult to pull off on a girl. That said, it's way better than Kresley/Brenea/Lacee/etc.
Suggestions:
Lydia Rowan
Lydia Sadie
Lydia June
Lydia Penelope
Lydia Violet
Corbin Henry
Corbin James
Corbin Andrew
Corbin Silas
Corbin Noel

Date: 2009-01-12 06:29 am (UTC)Lydia is simply lovely. I am not fond of the Kresley Brenea part but those are middle names and I figure middle names are lot more open for creativity. I know one Lydia and she is twenty. Kresley Brenea by itself, however, is terrible. Sorry.
Lacy is nice. Lydia Lacy sounds pretty good if you don't mind the repeated sounds.
Ryan as a girl middle name is again, not my style, but it's a middle name so I say go for it.

Date: 2009-01-12 05:26 pm (UTC)I love Lydia, but 'Kresley Brenea' seems kind of ridiculous. I mean, Kresley as a female version of Wesley? Really? And 'Brenea' looks like it should be pronounced 'brenn-ee-ah'.
Lydia isn't very popular at all. I know zero Lydias.
I hate the name Lacy, it just seems vapid and little-girlish.
I hate Ryan for a girl, but as a middle name, it wouldn't be as bad.

Date: 2009-01-12 09:46 pm (UTC)I don't see any problem with the length. I don't personally know any Lydias. It was in the top 200, but not in the top 100 in 2007. So I think it's getting fairly steady use, but it isn't being run into the ground.
I'm not a big fan of alliteration, so I think they sound better as two separate names, both of which I love (although my preference is definitely for Lacy, rather than Lacee). And although I don't especially like Ryan on a boy, but I find Ryan on a girl very cute.
Clarification
Date: 2009-01-12 09:52 pm (UTC)To the one who said Corbin Ford sounds like a car dealership.. it is lol! Wesley's favorite car is a Ford. (Ironically, he likes the name Lincoln for a girl.)
On a last note.. I only like the spelling "Lacee" as a middle name... not a first.. I like it because it is really really feminine, as is Lydia. Also, one of my friend's babies' name is Alexis Ryan (also named after her daddy).

Date: 2009-01-13 03:17 am (UTC)Lydia, i'd say, is a middle-popular name. it's not like an Ashley or Sarah, but i can think of a few Lydias i've known in my life.
TBH, Lacy/Lacee reminds me of...well lace. and lace makes me think of lingerie, and that's not the image i want of a little girl :(
i like Ryan as a girls name
