(no subject)

A woman in my training program is named Alaina, her two year old daughter is named Alysia (pronounced Ah-lay-sha). Hrm.

oh gawd!

that's such a stupid way to spell an already horrible name!!! that name is just AWFUL!

I like Alaina a lot, either that spelling or Alayna. Not a fan of Alysia, especially if that's the pronunciation ... I never would have guessed that!

I think Alana/Alaina is horrible, but Alysia?? Pronounced Ah-LAY-sha?? how does that even make sense?

"Uh-lee-shuh", "Uh-lye-shuh", or "Uh-lis-see-uh" would have all made sense. "Ah-lay-sha" doesn't! The mom failed with that one.

I don't mind the name Alaina... but seeing as how my name is Allyssia, I can't understand where on earth she got "Ah-LAY-sha" from? I pronounce mine either "Ah-LEE-shah" or, on occasion, "Ah-LEE-SEE-ah".

I would think A-LEE-sha when I saw that name. How odd--and a little too matchy with the mom's name.

I guess that's why people keep mispronouncing my name, because there are people out there that give their children names with crazy pronunciations. (My name is Alyssa, btw.)
