combo opinions
Jan. 5th, 2009 10:16 pmSo when I have a daughter her middle name will be Elaine. This has been set in stone since my mom died. Problem is, I don't know if I really like how any of my favourite names pair with Elaine!
Here's my top 20 (in no particular order). What do you think sounds best with Elaine as a MN?
Adelaide
Penelope
Rosalind
Lillian
Cordelia
Vivian
Norah
Matilda
Ramona
Charlotte
Naomi
Viola
Josephine
Maeve
Olive
Tabitha
Audrey
Pheobe
Claire
Daphne
I know many of these would sound better after Elaine, I just don't know if I actually like it enough to put it in the FN spot. I've just never envisioned it there.
Anything you might suggest that you think I'd like that isn't on my list that works nicely with Elaine?

Adelaide is too rhymey, I think, and Lillian Elaine has too many 'L's.

Date: 2009-01-06 10:45 pm (UTC)Vivian Elaine sounds pretty, I think, and Josephine Elaine and Tabitha Elaine. A lot of names with three syllables sound pretty with the middle name Elaine, but Adelaide Elaine doesn't flow so well. I think Vivian Elaine is the best sound, really.

Date: 2009-01-07 02:24 am (UTC)Adelaide Elaine - no, too rhymey
Penelope Elaine - love it! It's really difficult to run together, actually.
Rosalind Elaine - I don't like Rosalind, but the combo seems alright if that's notwithstanding
Lillian Eliane - maybe, could be too many L's
Cordelia Elaine - pretty much same oppinion as Rosalind Elaine
Vivian Elaine - quite nice actually. It's growing on me.
Norah Elaine - these two names are out of different naming styles, so I wouldn't join them, but it sounds nice regardless.
Matilda Elaine - quite nice, although to a smaller extent, the same as Rosalind and Cordelia
Ramona Elaine - pretty much the same as Norah Elaine, but more so, so I say no
Charlotte Elaine - kinda runs into each other, so I say it's ok but not great
Naomi Elaine - again, sort of runs into each other imo and I'm not that hot on it.
Viola Elaine - I'm sorry, I just don't like it
Josephine Elaine - a bit repetitive, both ending in ine/aine, so I say, no.
Maeve Elaine - again, not so great impo.
Olive Elaine - ditto
Tabitha Elaine - rather nice actually, and I didn't think it would be until I said it together.
Audrey Elaine - I think they run together a bit too much, so no.
Pheobe Elaine - ditto
Claire Elaine - ditto
Daphne Elaine - ditto
Sorry that there are so many I don't like.
